ADUNN

Con

This is the first post of the round to clarify any rules on the debate, please ask.
Swagmasterpoopoo

Pro

I accept! I assume the first round is acceptance only. Also, is there a specific format to each round, or can we post new arguments and rebuttal in whatever round we want?

Looking forward to an interesting debate! I debated Con once, so I'm looking forward to debating Pro!
Debate Round No. 1

Con

ADUNN forfeited this round.
Swagmasterpoopoo

Pro

Unfortunately, Con forfeited his previous round. Therefore, I am only go to provide the titles of my arguments and will not go into much detail to allow my opponent a chance to redeem himself next round.

Thank you for this debate. Hopefully, you come back next round!

Also, Con did not say who had the BoP. I assume Con must prove that single-sex schools are not beneficial OR mixed gender schools are better. Then, I as Pro must prove that there are benefits of single-sex schools.

Arguments

Two subpoints fall under my first point here.

Focus

Student Focus

Students will focus on more important things such as their education, thus these students will have a greater chance to a better future.

Focused Curriculum

Teachers have the option to alter certain aspects of the curriculum or their teaching method to create a better relation between the student and what he/she is learning.

Two more subpoints fall under my second main point.

School Environment

Loss of Gender Stereotypes

Single-sex school environments allow male and female students to pursue careers in fields that are usually dominated by members of the opposite sex.

More Relaxed Schooling

This is sort of tied in with my focus point. There are generally fewer cliques and there is less pressure on students socially to act certain ways; therefore, students can be themselves.

My two main points, focus and schooling environment will be elaborated in the next round. I will ask kindly for my opponent to not refute anything I said in this round (though I'm not sure how much you could really refute right away :P) as I did not get a chance to rebuttal any of your arguments.

Thank you!

Good luck in the rounds to follow!

please do not post any ideas or facts or what not :P we haven't started the debate yet lol! Btw, I personally do not agree that single-sex schools are better than mixed, but its just fun to debate it!

It may be beneficial for the majority of heterosexual people, so that they can focus on studying and perhaps not on... hormonal infested whatever teenagers think of. But think about the minority of (probably closeted) homosexual, bisexual, etc. students that have to study there. Having a majority of heterosexual children or teenagers there could cause a very caustic environment for the minority. The bullying already prevalent in many co-ed schools could become even worse. Therefore, I do not think it is generally a very good idea.
