Hello! I am loveislove_pizzaispizza and I will be on the positive side for this debate. I define this topic as that schools, no matter whether elementary, senior etc with single sexes (ie all girls school, all boys school) are positive for education, wellbeing and general development of students.

Before I begin with my reasoning, I pass it over to the opposition with his/her opening argument on the matter.

Round One
Having single sex education could ruin the students chance of having social relationships with the other gender. We all grew or our growing up in a classroom and most of our friends we meet from school, most of our boyfriends/girlfriends we meet from school. So, what if we only got to be friends will our same gender? What if we really never got to have a boyfriend or girlfriend in high school? How will this ever prepare up for the real world? Once we get out of high school or college then we will working with the other gender anyways!(1) Lastly, there really isn't a reason for us to change the whole schooling system because it will be detrimental to students.
What about gender stereotypes(2)? If children are not exposed to the other gender then these stereotypes will just be enforced harder. A study conducted at Arizona State University split boys and girls apart for just a couple weeks, at the end of this experiment children of the opposite sex did not play with each other as much and held the traditional stereotypical gender views(1). This experiment was only held for two weeks, but what if children were separated for 12 years? That's just over 626 weeks(3)!
It would also be way to expensive to run two parallel programs, some towns can barley keep up with one education system(4). First of all there would have to be different buildings for boys and girls, or at least different wings. Secondly, very few educators are trained to use gender specific techniques. So, if teachers would have to take all of these extra courses and we would have to have bigger schools, then most towns can not afford to pay for this. So if you do want your child to be taught separate from the other gender then go to a private school! There are multiple private schools that offer education systems that are separate from the other sex.

Single sex schools are unreal. The purpose of school is to teach children about the real world they will be facing. You cant make them live in non coed schools and then cope up to the read world? How will they be comfortable and careful when working with the opposite sex when doing their job?

Regular school have everything to prepare students for their future in real life.

On the other hand, single-gender environments train their students in a simulation of a world that doesn't exist where they cooperate with their same gender only.
