Smoking should be illegal in the United States.

It should be illegal in every state, and every store.

Research / Reasons for it to be illegal:

1. http://www.livescience.com...

2. http://www.livestrong.com...

3. http://www.teenink.com...

You will be trying to convince me that smoking shouldn't be illegal.

I accept your challenge!

It seems as if your points focus on the fact that smoking is a damage to your health and we should keep the public healthy, but we've tried to ban substances before multiple times and it has never worked so; I ask you, why would it be able to work this time? With prohibition on alcohol and that failed and the 'War on drugs' is considered a failure so why would it be able to work in this situation?

Why not ban junk food and soda while you're at it? Lack of exercise is a problem too....maybe you could have the government require people to exercise and get fined if they don't. If they are poor and don't have money, we could throw them all in jail. Of course, we would have to raise taxes to pay for the prisons and expense of the government raising their children. After all, if you are going to assess a fine, you have to have a contingency plan if they refuse to pay the fine.

If personal freedom is only available if pre-approved decisions are made, then there is no personal freedom.
