I am fifteen, and this is my first debate, so I thought I would start out with an unimportant one.

For this debate Snuggie will mean the official sleeved blanket produced by the Snuggie company.

I am arguing that Snuggies are a waste of money because they are just robes worn backward. Also, for their price, they are made out of cheap
material. I argue that it would be much more practical to buy a robe and
wear it backwards if you like the concept of wearing a a blanket with sleeves.

Thank you to whoever accepts this debate.

Thanks for the challenge :]

I am 19 and this is also my first debate, so we're both on the same level, regarding the level of experience upon this site.

Now, I do not have a great deal of knowledge regarding snuggies(this is actually first time I've heard of them). So when you write "For this debate Snuggie will mean the official sleeved blanket produced by the Snuggie company.". Then I am slightly uncertain of what you specifically mean. But to make my argument right away, I will present what I will go after. :]

=======================
My argument for snuggies not being a waste of money
=======================

I do not think that snuggies are waste of money, this is because according to that link you can get 2 for only 20 bucks. So since I'm so great at math, I can figure out that 1 costs 10 bucks.

That is quite cheap even for just a usual blanket of fine quality and size[1]. Some of the advantages of a snuggie compared to a normal blanket is though that you don't have to be worried if it slides off. You can sit and read using your arms and still have them covered, which I can't with a usual blanket. It's a lot longer than a robe, making it better at keeping you warm. And it's also cheaper than good robes[2].

======================
Conclusion
======================
Snuggies are cheaper and have advantages that robes and blankets do not have. This do not however mean that it is not a waste of money. But if you claim it to be, it'll seem like you also have to claim that robes and blankets are waste of money. Which I do not think you do, since you recommended a robe backwards instead of a snuggie.

Thanks again for this debate :]

Hey, sorry about forfeiting, but my Internet was out all day, so because of the time limit, I was forfeited automatically. Anywho, back to the debate!

The website you provided was the Snuggie I had in mind, sorry for not posting my own. For rebuttal, I would like to point out that when you buy a Snuggie online, you must pay $7 for shipping and handling, plus any applicable tax, so the final cost is more near $30. On Amazon.com [1], there is a luxurious robe for only $20, so around the same price as Snuggies. My opponent pointed out that one gets 2 Snuggies for $20, therefore making it a better deal. However, I point out that if the Snuggie company can sell one Snuggie for $10, and still make money, than they must make Snuggies very cheaply, with inferior fabric. The robe I found is made with micro fleece, which is better than ordinary fleece, because it is warmer and more breathable.

Robes are superior to Snuggies because they come with pockets, which are really handy for putting your hands in, or keeping remotes or snacks in a very convenient place. Also, with Snuggies, no
matter how you wear it, one side of you is always cold. You can wear it like the advertisements suggest, but then your back will be cold. Or you can wear it backwards, but then your front will be cold. With a robe, it comes with a stylish belt, so you can be warm all around. Or, if you like to wear
a robe so that either your front or back IS not covered, than you can take the belt off. My opponent also mentioned that Snuggies are long, and keep you warm better. I own a Snuggie, and when I wear it, I am constantly tripping on the excess material. Also, the fabric gets dragged all over the floor, and therefore gets very dirty.

I therefore conclude that robes are much better than Snuggies, because they can do everything Snuggies can, while having added features like pockets, belts, and better material, all while remaining at the same price.

Sorry again for the accidental forfeit :P

Pro: "Hey, sorry about forfeiting, but my Internet was out all day, so because of the time limit, I was forfeited automatically. Anywho, back to the debate!"
================================
- It's all good :]

================================
Pro: "For rebuttal, I would like to point out that when you buy a Snuggie online, you must pay $7 for shipping and handling, plus any applicable tax, so the final cost is more near $30"
================================
- Thats kind of the only way I could give an example. I would personally myself buy one in a shop, and not through the internet, so all those shipping taxes can be disregarded.

================================
Pro: "On Amazon.com [1], there is a luxurious robe for only $20, so around the same price as Snuggies."
================================
- "Around the same price" is apparantly 25%-33,3% on or off, to my opponent.

================================
Pro: However, I point out that if the Snuggie company can sell one Snuggie for $10, and still make money, than they must make Snuggies very cheaply, with inferior fabric. The robe I found is made with micro fleece, which is better than ordinary fleece, because it is warmer and more breathable.
================================
- On the other hand, atleast with my robe at home, it doesn't cover my legs that much, and has a bad habbit opening, unless I squeeze my own life out of me with the strap. So it might hold you warmer with this "micro fleece", but it wont cover your legs, be annoying at times and be 33,3% more expensive. And thats after you've added the shipping fee which would be unneccecary if you buy it in a shop in your city. Thus making it even cheaper.

================================
Pro: "Robes are superior to Snuggies because they come with pockets, which are really handy for putting your hands in, or keeping remotes or snacks in a very convenient place."
================================
- I've never seen any of my friends or people that I've just been home at, using a robe to hold snacks and remotes, that's something thats in the room where you have the tv or want to sit on a table. The thing that, to my experience, no one has actually used robe pockets for those reasons, I want to disregard them since even if it happens, then its at such rare occasions that it can't really be seen as a definite benefit from robes. With that said, yes you can stuff your hands in its pockets, but the legs I mentioned early will still be cold :]

================================
Pro: "Also, with Snuggies, no matter how you wear it, one side of you is always cold. You can wear it like the advertisements suggest, but then your back will be cold. Or you can wear it backwards, but then your front will be cold. With a robe, it comes with a stylish belt, so you can be warm all around."
================================
- Yeah, and there will always be 3 holes in a pair of pants. It's not suppose to hold you warm outside it's suppose to hold you warm when you're just laying down on your sofa or something like that.

================================
Pro: "My opponent also mentioned that Snuggies are long, and keep you warm better. I own a Snuggie, and when I wear it, I am constantly tripping on the excess material. Also, the fabric gets dragged all over the floor, and therefore gets very dirty."
================================
- True that if you walk around with it you will be tripping on the excess material, but it isn't made for a maraton, it's made for laying down, so thats kind of irrelevant as to why it isn't worth spending a penny on(It isn't good at what it shouldn't do, thus do not buy it!).

================================
Pro: "I therefore conclude that robes are much better than Snuggies, because they can do everything Snuggies can, while having added features like pockets, belts, and better material, all while remaining at the same price."
================================
- Except for the fact that it isn't at the same price, and you can always buy a belt if that bothers you or you can always find snuggies with better material if thats high on your list of priorities.

================================
Conclusion
================================
I do not claim that the snuggie is superior to neither the robe or the blanket, but that it has its own advantages that those two other products do not, thus making it worth actually spending moneys on. Which the Pro was fighting against to start of with, he wrote:"I am arguing that Snuggies are a waste of money...".

================================
Thanks a lot of the debate Landon, you have been very pleasent to debate with formally without resorting to any sort of fallacy or rude behavior, and you've come with fine arguments which I respect. I hope that we for the future will get more discussions. :]

That is what you have to do. But the place where you have to put in your number doesn't fit the numbers of my country, you know, each country has its amount of phone numbers.
