i believe that Social Media has irreparably damaged society and has effected us to much, it has caused chaos! Look at all of the students that have been effected by this, its all on social media! The stories of all of these deaths and rapes that have been going because of social media. I think that social media has effected us and it should not be like this, there are loads of sources of cyber-bullying too. The amount of scammers, hackers and fakers that are creating fake accounts to do these cruel and illegal things has just got out of hand. The amount of terror it has created. Social media also created a link for criminals. This has also made a drastic effect on people an the terrorists that live today that have been the reason for millions of deaths. Social media certainly has damaged our society and there is only one way of stopping this, getting rid of it all together!
First of all, as a Dutch person I would like to apologize for my use of English which might not be 100% accurate, but I have to disagree with your statement that social media has irreparably damaged society. Cyberbullying and online criminality are definitely some problems caused by this technological development, but in terms of its effects on society it also has some positive influences: People are now able to find old lost friends or contacts, approach them and talk to them by using one of the many social platforms available. It brings people together, which is a beautiful thing. It has never been easier to find job oppertunities, share ideas, post opinions and get in touch with the latest news. What I think should be done is (especially kids, older people and others who are in general more vulnerable for these things) are classes teaching them how to avoid scammers getting into your bank account, interactions with cyber bullies and fake accounts. I think everyone can learn how to recognize dangers on social media just as everyone is able to learn how to recognize dangers in traffic.
Conclusion: Social media definitely comes with some negative effects in terms of how it affects society, which can be solved by educating users on its dangers, and the effects are not as negative to an extent where it outwheights its positive effects. Getting rid of social media would come with some very serious issues that can never compensate with the issues it will avoid.
