. Voting criteria translation: . agree with before=emotional response . agree with after=melody . conduct=originality . spelling and grammar=keeps your interest . more convincing arguments=diverse song choice . reliable sources=genres used And I'm gonna take a leap of faith and play a hip hop song: A prince in practice moans for the attention that he wants but most of this town won't even dignify his ignorance with a response left to a crowded foster home by a 15 year old mom never been held in anyone's arms when you've never been moved its really hard to move on A young saleswoman sets up shop when the sun sets she'll make your wildest dreams come true at a price you wont forget The sadly married set up alibis no harm no regret hoping they meet an angel in bed that can wrestle the devil right out of their heads This city runs fast, no one has time to sit with themselves,no time to look into our pain or see the same despair in everyone else its here, its there, its everywhere tears soak each card the dealers dealt But time taught me how to see every second as heaven even though they're perfectly disguised as hell And I refuse to let past bruises cover the light it ain't all good, but its all good enough, so I know I'm alright agony is truth its our connection to the living I accept it as perfection and keep on existing in the now I can only build if I tear the walls down even if it breaks me I wont let it make me frown I'm falling but no matter how hard I hit the ground I'll still smile I can only build if I tear the walls down even if it breaks me I wont let it make me frown I'm falling but no matter how hard I hit the ground I'll still smile ...ear to ear as if that's all I'm here for despite the wars founded by the rich, funded by the poor kids barely 18 are dying so billionaires can make more elsewhere hungry mothers watch their babies starve to death in a beat up shack on a dirt floor The aged professor quotes "Freedom's without a path" now he dresses like a widow and preaches "love is dead" in every class But curiosity killed the cat and taught the dog in him how to act and it burned his bridge to Jill so he tries to drown the guilt with a bottle of Jack Self proclaimed rebels say "We must oppose the system!" "You gotta take a stand!" "If you're not against them you're with them!" signs read "Support the troops bring em' home!" "No more innocent victims!" but when a homeless veteran asks for spare change you're to busy protesting to even listen And I'm no different I live in conflict and contradiction but it can be so beautiful when I don't reject what lies within It's beautiful the way agony connects us to the living I think of the world when I hurt, and keep on existing in the now I can only build if I tear the walls down even if it breaks me I wont let it make me frown I'm falling but no matter how hard I hit the ground I'll still smile I can only build if I tear the walls down even if it breaks me I wont let it make me frown I'm falling but no matter how hard I hit the ground I'll still smile
Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits These mist covered mountains Are a home now for me But my home is the lowlands And always will be Some day you'll return to Your valleys and your farms And you'll no longer burn To be brothers in arms Through these fields of destruction Baptisms of fire I've witnessed your suffering As the battles raged higher And though we were hurt so bad In the fear and alarm You did not desert me My brothers in arms There's so many different worlds So many different suns And we have just one world But we live in different ones Now the suns gone to hell And the moons riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die But it's written in the starlight And every line on your palm We're fools to make war On our brothers in arms |

for all those born to serve
and those that chose to hide (how many worker bees died within our hive) let their sadness be our blessing let their losses lead the way the dark horse will one day come to free the light from all of us one day the dark horse will come for all those born to die and those that lost the fight (how many fallen friends died within our sights) let their hard roads be our way out let their passion lead the way the dark horse will one day come to free the light from all of us one day the dark horse will come no matter the man or the machine beasts will become what they were meant to be in the name of lovers in the name of wars we'll show the demons for what they are dark horse ride towards the light dark horse ride onward towards to light onward |

I am the key to the lock in your house
That keeps your toys in the basement And if you get too far inside Youll only see my reflection Its always best when the covers up I am the pick in the ice Do not cry out or hit the alarm You know were friends till we die And either way you turn Ill be there Open up your skull Ill be there Climbing up the walls Its always best when the light is off Its always better on the outside Fifteen blows to the back of your head Fifteen blows to your mind So lock the kids up safe tonight Shut the eyes in the cupboard Ive got the smell of a local man Whos got the loneliest fear That either way you turn Ill be there Open up your skull Ill be there Climbing up the walls Climbing up the walls Climbing up the walls *sexy stare* Your move, christ-killer.

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, Blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? And did they get you to trade Your heros for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here. |

I would like to thank my awesome opponent for this wonderful debate. Where is my mind - Pixies Oh - stop With your feet in the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah Your head will collapse But there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself Where is my mind [3x] Way out in the water See it swimmin' I was swimmin' in the Caribbean Animals were hiding behind the rocks Except the little fish But they told me, he swears Tryin' to talk to me, coy koi. Where is my mind [3x] Way out in the water See it swimmin' ? With your feet in the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah Your head will collapse If there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself Where is my mind [3x] Oh With your feet in the air and your head on the ground Oh Try this trick and spin it, yeah Oh Oh |

Reasons for voting decision: Con had 2 songs I liked.

R2: Pro's choice was energetic, but a bit too chaotic for my tastes. I need some form of melody or groove in my metal. Con's had a lot of feel to it so this round goes to CON.
R3: Pro's radiohead pick was nice. Unique, edgy, sexy. Con's pick was decent. It had a good beat and I love rap music, but I've heard this kind of rap song so much, it didn't stick out in many ways. I think pro's pick had a more distinct feeling to it, so this round goes to PRO
R4: Pro's - dramatic with a little bit of creepy & quirkiness. Very pretty too. I really enjoyed this one. Con's - This is a great song with so much soul. A nice slow build up into an emotive piece. I am having trouble picking between these two because I enjoyed both songs but I will have to give it to PRO for picking something I haven't heard before.
R5: Pros- ohh, pretty melody. Nice guitar line. Nostalgic but got slightly boring imo. Con's - Very cool. Groovy and goofy and unique. This round goes to CON.
Pro 3 / Con 2 = Pro Wins. Good debate you two :)
