I think Mayor Bill de Blasio speed limit 25mph on city street is reasonable. It can be a very helpful steps toward the pedestrian safety. Not to mention, it can also lower the reckless taxi drivers and red light runners.

I think changing the speed limit from 30 mph to 25mph is not a huge difference. Major , Bill De Blasio is just doing this to gain popularity for making a "change"

if there is not a huge difference then we should him change the speed limit. And usually when there is a speed limit, people always go more the the speed limit, endangering the kids, elderly pedestrians. According to dmv.ny.gov 312 pedestrians were killed in New York alone in 2012 and more than 15000 were injured. I strongly believe we can control this number if we change the speed limit.

I believe that most of the time it's the pedestrians fault for car accidents. Pedestrians get in the way of the cars, they jay walk, when the red light to cross the street pops up people still run across. The speed limit should not be at fault for the troubles pedestrians cause to themselves.

The thing about New York City is that it's the "fast city", everyone is very busy here and we need to get where we need to go and fast. While, maybe, lowering the speed limit will help in some way, but there will still be people that will go over it, and there would just be far too many complaints about the law as it's deemed unnecessary. Less people should jaywalk (as nyc15982) said, and if people remain patient, less accidents will happen. I think it's more up to us, the people, to drive more carefully and to be more alert rather than enforcing a new law. (More traffic management control would be a much better route as nyc15982 said, as well.)

The mayor shouldn't change the speed limit. He should work with commisioner Bratton to put more police officers assigned to traffic management control units so they can summons reckless drivers and pedestrians who jaywalk. This will make drivers drive less reckless and pedestrians be more patient and alert while crossing the street.
