Star Wars is better than Harry Potter because Star Wars lightsabers' can deflect Harry Potters' spells.

Although Pro is trying to justify the quality of both movie franchises based solely on the fact a lightsaber MAY be able to deflect a spell cast from a wizard. But I guess I will play along with it.....

Contention 1-

I can name 100's of spells from the Harry Potter universe that would render a Jedi useless.................

But I will only name a few.........
1. The most obvious.......... Avada Kedavra (Killing Curse)
Description: Causes instant, painless death to whomever the curse hits. There is no countercurse or method of blocking this spell; however, if someone sacrifices their life for someone else, the person who was saved will not encounter any adverse effects of any curses by the specific attacker (e.g. when Lily Potter sacrificed her life for Harry Potter at Voldemort's hands, Harry became immune to curses cast by Voldemort). One of the three Unforgivable Curses.
Considering this spell is unblockable a Jedi's lightsaber wouldn't be effective against it.......

2. (Jelly-Fingers Curse)
Description: Causes the target's fingers to become almost jelly-like to make it impossible for the victim to grasp objects. If the opponent touches a wall, he/she will be stuck to it forever.
Would make it impossible for the Jedi to grasp his lightsaber.......

3. Incendio
Description: Produces fire. Flames burst out flying.
A Jedi would not be able to deflect flames, the lightsaber isn't wide enough, severe burns would be inflicted.

4. Imperio (Imperius Curse)
Description: Causes the victim of the curse to obey the spoken/unspoken commands of the caster. The experience of being controlled by this curse is described as a complete, wonderful release from any sense of responsibility or worry over one's actions, at the price of one's free will. Resisting the effect of the curse is possible, however, and several individuals have been able to successfully overcome it, including Harry and both of the Crouches, who learn to resist the curse after being subjected to its effects for an extended period. Harry describes the feeling of being the caster as controlling a marionette through a wand (although Harry's particular experience is suspect due to his lack of commitment to casting Unforgivable Curses). One of the three Unforgivable Curses. Once the Jedi is under the Wizard's control he is again rendered helpless.

5.(Freezing Charm)
Description: Renders target immobile.
Jedi wouldn't be able to move.

6. (Flagrante Curse)
Description: Causes any object affected to burn human skin when touched.
If this is cast onto the Jedi's lightsaber, it will be useless to him because he would be burned to the touch and experience searing pain.

7. (Fiendfyre Curse)
Description: Dangerous, uncontrollable and extremely powerful fire which can take the form of beasts such as serpents, Chimaeras, and dragons.
A Jedi can't block this it's a plethora or towering fire.

8. Expulso
Description: A spell that causes an object to explode. The force of the explosion may depend on the intent of the caster.
This object touching lightsaber = explosion = no lightsaber = helpless Jedi.

9. Engorgio (Engorgement Charm)
Description: Causes objects to swell in size.
If this were to hit a lightsaber, the lightsaber would swell in size and the Jedi wouldn't be able to grasp it.

10. Crucio (Cruciatus Curse)
Description: Inflicts unbearable pain on the recipient of the curse. One of the three Unforgivable Curses.
It says it all in the description, the Jedi wouldn't have a chance.....

11. Confringo (Blasting Curse)
Description: Causes anything that the spell meets to explode in flames.
Would cause Jedi's lightsaber to explode.

You have to remember the Jedi's lightsaber would only be useful at close range, it's effective range is only about 4 feet.
The Jedi has the sneaky long distance weapon known as the "Force" but the plethora of spells and options an experienced wizard has in much more versatile and devastating.
Wizard wins hands down! :)

Reasons for voting decision: I agree with Con for reasons to be determined on the same debate who I am fighting with the Pro right now. Spelling goes to Pro because Pro spelled all of his words right, even though he only did one arguement. Con made the more convincing arguements because Pro forfitted the other two rounds. The rest are tied.
