I'm reopening this debate since it expired after the person I challenged never got on DDO again.

Anyway.

Sharing is caring.

Round 1: Acceptance
Round 2: Supporting Arguments only
Round 3: Rebuttals
Round 4: Rebuttal

Do you accept my challenge?

I accept.

Well, like I said, sharing is caring. Right? It kind of makes sense.

There are actually approximately 100,000 tons of gum chewed a year [1]

That's a lot, and when you start putting that in landfills, it makes a difference. That's why we need to reuse, reduce and recycle. Spread out on the desks of America, that's like one or two per desk. It's not as big of an impact.

Now, I offer justification for this resolution in my confidence that my opponent will not be able to adequately negate it. If there's no reason for it to not be seen as socially unacceptable, that 100,000 tons in a landfill suddenly seems like a pretty good reason to support the resolution.

I now hand it over to my opponent.

Well that's unfortunate for him.

His accounts closed. You shouldn't have a problem refuting his next argument.

My arguments will get even better when I refute the next speech :)

You're going to feel like several pieces of crap for throwing your gum away.

Jonbonbon, I feel like a piece of crap for all those times I didn't shove my gum under a table. Not only is it morally permissible to do it, from your arguments it appears to be immoral not to do it.

I'm probably going to yell at the next person I see, who throws a piece of gum away.

And I'm going to tear them to tiny, infinitesimally small shreds of worthlessness. :)

Exactly! I'm going to bring a few benefits and arguments to the table.

All the benefits of shoving chewed bubblegum under the table keep popping up in my head. There is no doubt the world would be a better place if everyone shoved chewed bubble gum under the table.
