I don't think a high school student should get paid just for getting good grades.

One way to look at this is that the payment students receive for their good grades is their parent's pride, or a higher GPA. This method of reward can be manipulated by cheating or bribery. And if a student is paid for his or her good grades, where would the money come from?

Perhaps parents of all students of the school were to pay a certain amount per month for the students with good grades to be awarded. But what if the parents can't afford it? Or they refuse to pay because their children do not get enough high grades to compensate for what they initially paid? This method might even start physical and verbal abuse, where a parent will get angry at their children for an unnecessary expense. Or, if I may exaggerate, a parent might even rely on his or her child for financial support.

While a lot of students would agree on being paid, the consequences of this method are just too high to be applied on the society.

I look forward to Pro's response.

While students may enjoy the benefits of receiving money for their studying, this also gives way for students to buy unnecessary objects. Even drugs, cigarettes, alcohol and other substances can be purchased by any student who studied hard enough.

Getting paid for good grades can also lead to a flawed mindset. They might think that in the future, they can earn money by simply memorising a company's motto, or analysing its logo.

In a nutshell, giving students money for an A+ is a very bad idea.

I will be posting my argument based on yoosmue's comment.

While it is true that some students might stop SELLING drugs, who's going to stop them from BUYING drugs? While there could be the possibility of student accounts which are controlled by their parents, there is still the possibility of bad or irresponsible parents to take control of the money for unnecessary means such as alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, or others.

While bullying might decrease with this method, students with questionable morals may even start a form of slavery. (I am already exaggerating here) The remaining bullies may just demand money from hardworking students with good grades. That hardworking students may not always be as skilled in fighting ti be able to defend himself.

I also will revive the question; where will the money come from?

If a student earns $50 for every A, then whoever provides the money will certainly be at the losing end. Assuming we are talking about American dollars, $50 is a lot of money.

Thank you for this interesting debate, even though I am quite disappointed by your lack of response.

Students should get pay because the students will pay more attention on their lesson, they will compete with other, and the selling of drugs will decreased. people who wanted a job will get job quickly cause studen will not embarrassed themselves to get job because they are getting pay for getting good grades and the parents can tell the school to send every money the students earn in their accounts and because of that parents will have control over them. If students get pay they Will also stop going the street because they want to get money every quarter so they will stay in their to do their assignments and study. And if some sell drugs they will stop selling or stop other suspicious behavior they usually do. My suggestion is for every A's earn they should get pay 50 dollars and every B's 20 dollars. So if students have all A's they earn on 8 subjects they get 800 every quarter. They will always compete with each other cause none of them will want to get bully by their friends, in facts they won't argue about GAP they will argue about how much the other make every quarter

Students shouldn't be getting paid for good grades. You are getting an education that a lot of people can't get. And we should be getting good grades because we learned something new, not for getting money.
