Especially in high school, students are encouraged by the school to participate in clubs and activities that interest them. Special club time is incorporated into the bell schedule every two weeks and a plethora of clubs are offered. In my school, it is mandatory to attend a club during the designated club time. However, 90% of the clubs require a membership fee, supply fee or the need to personally buy items to participate. Additional club fees should not be needed because the school is forcing students to participate in a club of choice. This creates a problem because if fees are not payed, you are unable to continue to participate in the club. Another reason why this should not be imposed is because many students may be enrolled in many high level AP courses and simply do not have the time to put towards a club, many students also cannot afford to keep putting money into a club while saving for college and other things.
