This is NOT a joke debate. I'm pro same-sex relationships but this issue has been bothering me so I want to test it out with someone. The current stance is that same-sex relationships are supported based on love between the two people. Supporters reject biological or cultural reasons such as "only a man and a woman can procreate" or "man-woman relationships are the bedrock of civilization", citing that the love between same-sex couples is a personal choice and their happiness or marriage should not be dictated by society.

By this same reasoning, the love between siblings or the love between multiple people could also follow the same route, hence if you support same-sex couples but do not support incestual couples, it is rather inconsistent.

Con side will argue that it is not inconsistent. Please begin arguments when you apply. Thanks.

I accept this debate. I shall be arguing two things. 1.) Supporting same-sex relationships does not lead to supporting polygamy, because many people believe in monogamy. 2.) Supporting same-sex relationships does not lead to supporting incest, because many people are not keen on the idea of birth defects.

Those are my base arguments. I shall go further into each one once my opponent gives my more material to work with. Until then, let’s keep this civil, but impassioned!

Lol, don't be so sure. Growing up with someone usually numbs you to how attractive they are.

If I had a sister like that, then I wouldn't still be a virgin.

Same as Epica. I will accept if you lower the standards for accepting or if you challenge me directly.

@Midnight1131 Well there's a way to deal with Incest couples such as adoption or just not having children. Plus having a child through biological standards isn't as risky as people make it out to be. It is risky, indeed. However people over exaggerate how risky it truly is. The older the couple, the higher the risk. Plus it depends on the incest, such as sibling incest, half siblings, cousins, etc.

Well to be honest, polygamy and incest aren't harmful if both sides are consenting. [Incest can be harmful for children though.]
