Hi. I think sweatpants are evil. Let's argue!
DerKing

Definitions:

Evil[1]: Morally wrong of bad;

Sweatpants[2]: Loose fitting pants of soft, absorbing fabric;

Because the definition of sweatpants comes no where close to the definition of evil, by definition, sweatpants are not evil.

The argument is technically not about them being specifically evil, and by definition, they are not the same. But I feel this way towards them because they are so comfy and you want to wear them, but you can't because they are socially unacceptable and generally ugly. This is an opinion argument, but here are a bunch of people who agree with me:

There are many, many, many more, but my copy/paste hand is tired. As you see, the general public thinks they're ugly. This is not a joke, I take fashion VERY seriously.

"This is an opinion argument, but" - BUT, this is an actual debate, where you cannot simply base a case off of no evidence. You claim sweatpants are evil, yet you do not define evil. Even in the metaphorical sense of an inanimate object being evil, this does simply not meet that criteria. YOU CANNOT BASE YOUR CASE SOLELY ON PEOPLE'S OPINIONS, and just because people agree with you does not mean you are write. You made a claim, but gave no warrant, no analysis, no evidence, and no impact. You have the burden of proof to prove that sweatpants are evil but you just did not do so. Because this is a seven point system, I would like to point out that blogs, which almost all of your articles are, are not reliable in any sense of the word. However, dictionary.com, one of the most trusted sources of factual information on words, is.

In conclusion, because my opponent has no evidence, the opinions she agrees with are all blogs describing sweatpants ugliness, she has not related how anything she said makes sweatpants evil, she agreed with me, and she failed to carry the burden of proof that was on her, and for those reasons, I should win.

I will use this comment as a vote.

I agreed with DerKing before and after the debate

Conduct: Pro

Spelling and grammar: tied

More convincing arguments: Pro

Most reliable sources: pro

RFD:

1. Conduct: Con apparently dropped Pro's case on the definition of the word "evil."

2. Arguments: definitively, just because something does not look good does not make it evil. For example, if your mom cooks you a meal that doesn't look so good, does that alone make it evil? No.

3. Sources: Con used sources from her own sexual bias. DerKing, however, used dictionary.com, and we all know how reliable it is.

0 points for Con, 6 points for Pro.
