Look I honestly don't know what your deal is but removing the "T" from "LGBT" is like removing an animal species from the face of the earth. It's idiotic. But most of all it's insulting and a form of segregation. Supposedly it's "against the bible" and whatnot. But let me tell you something here. The oppression of a sexuality is against the CONSTITUTION !!! Every human being has a right to express who they are. The first amendment in the bill of rights guarantees the " freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition."

Con, it seems you didn't read the rules. The first round was to be an acceptance of the debate, nothing more. Technically, you would forfeit this debate solely on that basis, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and continue.

I believe that the 'T' should be removed from the LGBT community label because Transgenderism is inherently different from being gay, a lesbian or bisexual. Including transgender people in the sexuality spectrum creates confusion in our allies and breeds misconceptions towards a community that is already widely misunderstood.

While gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, demisexual, etc. are all labels describing an individual's sexual attraction, transgender, and intersex, although I'm not going to mention that too much in this debate, are labels to describe an individual's gender identity and the status of that gender identity in contrast to their birth sex. The truth is that gender identity is a completely separate issue from sexual identity, and transgender people (like cisgender people) can be straight, gay, bisexual or anywhere else along the sexual attraction spectrum.

Grouping the transgender label in with the sexual attraction labels leaves people with the false impression that gender identity is somehow linked to sexual attraction, and also leaves people with the false impression that we are all fighting for the same rights. This is also untrue. While some transgender people may also be gay and fight alongside their partners for marriage equality rights, the majority of issues transgender people are fighting for have nothing to do with that.

The biggest issues transgender people face are accessing healthcare, hormone therapies and surgeries, finding and being able to keep jobs due to discrimination in the workplace during transition, legal identification and of course, the public's many misunderstandings about what transgender people go through.

For these reasons, although we can support and stand with our LGB... allies, transgender people should have a label of their own that is not grouped in with theirs.
