Recently, some politicians, most notably Barack Obama, have advocated taxing corporate gas emmisions. That is to say, the government charges corporations depending on how much pollution they emit. I was wondering why people, Obama supporters in particular thought of this and if they could explain to me why this would be a good idea.

I have made the debate four rounds since I haven't really provided an opening argument except for my stance against it. Thanks.

With the ever mounting concerns surrounding the global warming crisis, it is in the best interest of humanity that the next leader of the free world prioritizes effective policy making to cope with this. Obviously, our current administration has been useless in this regard. It is past time for a change. Our next leader must have a proactive approach in dealing with the environment, most notably carbon emissions. In short, I believe the Obama plan you speak of is a step in the right direction. I'm not sure why you're against this, so I will await your stance.

These corporations you may be alluding to deserve nothing less than to be at least taxed or fined for their irresponsible actions in polluting the environment.

Hope things are alright for my opponent. Yet another wasted round. Would have been interesting to read his arguments.

Needless to say this was not a debate, and four rounds of time needed to elapse for it to end. It's about time.

I believe providing capital towards the preservation of the environment is imperative as well. Nonetheless, it has nothing to do with taxing corporations for polluting the environment. As a company, if you belch filth into the air, you should pay!

Well I will be voting for you again on this one this gentleman knows not what he speaks of. Why do you feel corporations should be taxed for some environmental company who is going to do minimal environmental restorations and take millions in overheads to line their pocket. I think we should give real solutions to the problem like subsidies on, wind power, florescent lights and tank less water heaters which provide carbon relief not take the money away from businesses and give it to the government. Who did not put a dimes worth of effort into creating the business or providing service to the people.
