Technology is a foe towards society due to the fact that we are so technologically developed that our big super powers throughout the world have the technology to destroy the planet. It only takes one fascist leader, like Hitler, to corrupt the world.

My argument was the fact the technology is a foe. your side of the argument would be that technology would be a friend to society. Therefore, in my argument I saying when you have such developed technology that eventually you could have a world outbreak that could potentially ruin the world. For instance, when you look back at the cold war, there were two super powers that could rivals all throughout history. You can go back as far as the civil war in Korea. It was being the communist, north korea and the democratic, south korea. It was the battle between communist governments and democratic governments. The U.S sided with south korea and the USSR sided with North korea.
So with my arguement, these two rivals had such developed technology in weapons like the nuke, that both sides were scared to start a war. They knew that if one bomb was dropped on another country that they would receive the same treatment back. In conclusion, if one of the bombs were to be dropped like they were in WW2, the effects on the citizens and the society they lived in would be horrific and defiantly a foe.

The debate is "Technology: Friend Or Foe?"
Technology is actually anything, from making a campfire with sticks to creating an atomic bomb.
Now, you make no limitations to what technology so we choose those things that really did helped the society.

And by the way... you've actually solved the problem with your own arguments. Most countries has nuclear weapons, so war wont start so easily. (bomb me = you get a bomb back.)

Technology can be a huge friend towards you depending on how you use it.
Examples of technology that helped he society:
1. The television, yes the old trusty television. It greatly helped the society.
2. Mobile phones, with mobile phones, you can call anywhere you want.
3. Electricity, without it, how can we have these high tech gears and handy tools?
4. Lamps, lamps runs better then using fireplace or a candle.
5. Cars, a great thing to have since you can travel further in a faster timespan.

Now, to the topic of Warfare technology.
We all know that those atomic bombs are dangerous and most countries have them.
But the question is, why has no one used it on another country after the 2nd WW?
Answer is, they use the atomic bombs as defenses to scare others from starting a war.

Now, you just said "In conclusion, if one of the bombs were to be dropped like they were in WW2, the effects on the citizens and the society they lived in would be horrific and defiantly a foe." My bet is that you are referring to wars that causes damage to society.
Now, even without those epic nukes, war still happens. The nukes are just here as a war scarecrow.

SUMMARY:
Technology serves a purpose in the society, it always benefits the society in some way. Even though used wrongly sometimes, they are mostly prevented by threats. (weapons are still bad :P)
And of course the main cause of technology being seen as bad are evil humans.
Since Con has made no limitation on the part Technology, im gonna assume he means ALL technologies.

I await for Con's reponse.
