I will keep it short and simple... teenagers are having sex. Teenagers are going to continue to have sex. Teenagers are NOT going to tell their parents. Why not prevent pregnancies?

Im not going to set 'rules' for this debate, so feel free to debate however you feel is necessary.

Teenagers are going to have sex. the common age for teenage girls to lose their virginity is at 15. With all the new reality shows (ex. 16 and pregnant) why not allow teenagers to have birth control? Teenagers will never feel comfortable telling their parents about their...sexual experience.. so if they are not allowed to have birth control, there is a high change that they will get pregnant. You are never going to get teenagers to stop having sex, waiting until marriage isn't even an option for many teenagers. Give them the protection they need.

Sorry for the forfeits.

"Teenagers are going to have sex. the common age for teenage girls to lose their virginity is at 15."
Okay.

"With all the new reality shows (ex. 16 and pregnant) why not allow teenagers to have birth control?"
No reason why not. But parents should know if they are having sex.

"Teenagers will never feel comfortable telling their parents about their...sexual experience.. so if they are not allowed to have birth control, there is a high change that they will get pregnant."
So that is why they need to tell their parents. They need to either tell their parents or suffer the consequences. Parents have the right to know if their kids are having sex.

"You are never going to get teenagers to stop having sex, waiting until marriage isn't even an option for many teenagers. Give them the protection they need."
So that is why they need to tell their parents. Perhaps educate them about sex. Or teach them responsibility. Teens should not have sex without their parents consent.

It is simple. If they don't tell their parents they are having sex, they are not responsible, therefore they should not reap the benefits of being responsible.

Contention 1: Responsibility
If they don't tell their parents they are having sex, they are not responsible, therefore they should not reap the benefits of being responsible.

Contention 2: Cost
Without their parents' insurance, birth control pills cost as much as $300. I do not think their parents would want them wasting all their money, when they could be saving so much money by doing something as simple as telling their parents.

Reasons for voting decision: Jesus did this suck, it was a forfeit fail. Seriously WTF? Not to be rude, but this was a poor debate. I will still give arguments to con.
