Studies show that most teenagers will use violent and M-Rated games to vent anger(1). This is a positive way to vend unlike some teens that may drink, smoke, or cause physical damage to others. 2 thirds of boys play M-Rated games regularly and over 1 fourth of girls will play M-Rated games on a regular basis. Therefore, kid prefer M rated games and use them a mental stress and anger reducers.
Teenagers are super annoying online! Look I'll allow it if they promise not to buy headsets, but they will. You know they will. Teenagers piss me off online, just as much as kids. They might actually be worse because they're in that phase where they try to act mature but are still angst-y. Kind of like a stupid frat boy. It's got nothing to do with "studies" that so-called "psychologists" take of "the effects of video games on the mind of youth". It's just that I want to be able to go into some fun cod for an hour or so without "OOOOOOOH YOU JUST GOT PWNED SON!" In my ears.
There's no reason not to. They learn worse at school and things anyway. There's nothing in video games that they won't find later in life, and there's no reason to try to hide it from them. Some M games receive that rating really for no reason but blood and gore/language, but come on, we can all think of worse.
Did you read my argument man? I said I have nothing against teens seeing violence. But I'm against annoying teenagers pissing me off online. If you don't think teenagers are annoying, try to hang out with them. I'm probably the only teenager I know who's self aware to how annoying I am. I can tell you as a FACT I wouldn't want me or any of my friends bothering people online. Also, as a teenager, I can tell you that GTA has some effects. Most adults who've investigated this have the bias of not being a teenager. But I'm a teenager, and I'm saying we shouldn't play M games. Unless they don't come with an online function, which is rare.
And on the violence thing. I don't think kids being violent is caused by video games, I'm saying video games aren't helping. Video games can be stressful, and teens with anger management issues won't be aided by an aggrivating portal level or something. Video games don't create anger managment issues, but they make the pre-existing ones even worst.
Plus, teenagers who play M games tend to be d***s.
