Do you believe that technology has done more for mankind than medicine and if yes why and if not why? If you believe that medicine has done more for mankind state why/why not?

Technology has clearly had a greater impact, as medicine is only one component of technology. Technology is "the practical application of knowledge". Therefore, technology includes all applied science. Medicine: "the science and art dealing with the maintenance of health and the prevention, alleviation, or cure of disease" is an applied science. Thus, medicine is a form technology, though technology extends beyond medicine.

My opponent does not define "doing more for mankind". I will therefore interpret this to mean creating positive benefit for the whole of mankind. Technology has certainly benefited man outside the feild of medicine. Air travel, central heating, and indoor plumbing are just a few examples.

Thanks for posting.

I would say that medicine falls under the subset of technology and thus, that the PRO position is rigged to lose.

Is there a meaningful distinction between "medicine" and "technology?"
