The rise of BRIC or lets say the other developing/developed countries is having a positive impact on America. If it would not have been so that the present economic crisis would have had even more devastating impact on USA.
I say this because for the past 4-5 yrs the growth there have been just the dollar economy...you see the housing debacle..the oil price fluctuation..etc..etc..the real source of production/ services is not contributing to it..and that gap is filled by the BRIC's and other nation which are growing...so had it not been for these BRIC the bricks of the foundation of USA would have been decimated..

I don't think Jimmy.Burge wanted to argue the February 09 PoFo topic, but instead wanted to debate about whether or not the rise of BRIC has had a positive impact on the US, where B is for Britain, R is for Russia, I is for Italy, and C is for China. It is completely different from the PoFo topic. however, I wish there were actually some arguments here.

I can't believe this debate. I mean really, what a discrace...

Matshizle: You've pointed out disgrace number one, which is that the instigator doesnt even know the resolution.

Also, the debators just posted in the first round...and then did nothing. This debate is not beneficial to anyone. Not the readers, but also the competitors.

I believe that (BRIC), as defined by the resolution, stands for Brazil, Russia, India, and China, not Britain and Italy.

Considering the BRIC theory (which the resolution is based on) is concering "modern days", I would think that arguments concerning "olden" history would be untopical

If you are talking olden days, nothing has had a greater impact on American Society than the British and Roman Empire's: Republics, the Magna Carta, running water, and, if you consider how greatly Christians have affected the US, the crucifiction of Jesus Christ.

Brian raises a good point, are we talking modern days or olden days?

Do you mean historically, as in the British Empire (and the colonisation of North America); the Roman Empire; The Soviet Union and the Imperial Chinese dynasties? If not, why not include Germany, France, India and Japan?
