It is not doing the world any favours for developed nations, such as Australia, to sink to the standards of developing nations. You can talk about the 'expansion of the gap' until the cows come home, but if the developed world declines their standards to meet developing nations we have lost the point and not actually aiding the world. What we really need to do is help developing nations meet our standards and rise them, not let developed nations fall.

Some of the ridiculous codes I have ever seen have come out of the international building code. Just built a one story building and had to tie the walls in the building to the roof trusses using clips that can rise and fall. As if the roof is going to move once they are nailed to the wall plates. This is never been an earthquake zone.In fact I built an addition in California a few years ago and never had to use those clips. But we were forced by government to do as they say or they would not issue an occupancy permit.Bureaucrats are like flies. They eat sh""t and bother people.

You liberals are never satisfied to control those in your own country. Now you want to have the switches and levers of government over those in other countries.Let them work out their problems and keep your hands off them.

Pro does not understand how markets work. No trade with those nations who have the same "workplace safety laws," you will have no pencils, etc.
