I believe that the bombings of Hiroshima, and Nagasaki were 1. neccissary, and 2. Inevitable. The reason it was neccissary is because it saved millions of American lives from the ruthless Japanese. The reason it was inevitable is because it was the easiest, most logical, and quite frankly the only way to force the Japanese to surrender. I would like to find a contender to debate this, and I know someone will, I have meet many people who have tried to prove me wrong. I want to see if someone can.

Okay BOP on Pro. I must prove it saved millions of American lifes at the least

Wow, I can't believe there was no one who could be a con for this. Unless of course your being sarcastic.

Con

Sorry for the delay.

The atomic bombs did not save millions of lives. There was other options and i doubt that any attack would kill more then 1.5 million. I will post a stronger debate with Pro's rebuttal.

We lost rough 108,000 men in the Pacific Theatre, and about 250,000 were wounded or missing. Now imagine if we attacked the mainland with massive force, battling the relentless Japanese, crashing planes into us, and charging at us with thousands, upon thousands of men. Any other options we would have lost many men.

OTHER OPTIONS:
Let the Russians do their thing.
Root for peace. < Will get back to that.
Bomb the sake out of them.

All of these may been able to end the war and millions of 'Merican lies may be saved.

I personally found this to be a disappointing debate overall, but Pro did post good arguments for why it would have saved millions of Americans, which was poorly refuted by Con by saying we should have called for peace, or let the Russians attack Japan.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro didn't meet his burden of proof. It was all speculation without proof or reason to believe that proof. Con wasn't great either.
