Quite simply the Beatles gained such popularly to be able to make not commercial music. Also referred to as good music. Other bands have done this but the Beatles 1.pushed the boundaries of music 2.made money doing it.

Definition "Best" Most desirable

The Beatles are not the best band ever. They were a glorified boy band, and for a while their music didn't mean anything because they were just doing it for money and fame. And they didn't even do it that well because they were getting ripped off by their manager and they only earned .25% of a penny for each record sold. Also if they were the best group ever then they would not have broken up so soon. Lastly the word best makes it subjective. 500 characters?

I will not argue that they were never noncommercial but they got (or at least they thought they got) rich and popular enough to change music as we know it. They were the first to be a celebrity group as we think of it and by maintaining a dedication to the music and the themes they changed the world.

Beach boys started in 1961, a year before the beatles. They didn't really change music, not nearly as much as the rolling stones or led zeppelin. Not to mention their music is not as good as pink floyd's or the who's. So I fail to see how they are the best group ever. They were all drug addicts too, which set bad examples for the fans of them.

Yet If I interrogated a random bloke off the street he would no the Beatles even if he did not k ow the beach boys or the who. The bands of the 70s were a continuation of the movement began by the Beatles; they popularised that style of experimentation. The Who really are just era riders, in any time but the 60s they would have flopped. And musically the 60s were defined by the Beatles, the Beach Boys would have run out of stuff to write but then pet sounds; inspired by Rubber Soal.

This is true that most people know who the beatles are, but that is not the topic of this debate. This is about the best, most desireable band which in the end is totally subjective, so I could say any band was the best. We are not debating about the influence of the beatles, this is about talent and success. The beatles were not the best band ever, because they had less talent than a lot of their fellow British bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and the rolling stones.

Of course, no one can see into the future, so this statement is therefore false.
