Book of Deutoronomy 22:25-27: But if a man find a betrothed woman in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. But unto the woman thou shalt do nothing; there is in the woman no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: For he found her in the field, and the betrothed woman cried, and there was none to save her.

In the biblical text, we see God issuing a death penalty to any man that would rape a woman. How can anyone, in the light of this, state that the biblical text encourages rape? Make your case.

Who has ever said that the Bible encourages rape?

The title is pretty misleading. I think a better on would be "The Bible does not encourage Rape."

It's strange how Deuteronomy 22:25-26, 22:23-24 and 22:28-29 offer different consequences depending on the situation.
- Deuteronomy 22:23-24, calls for both the rapist and the married woman to be put to death, if the rape happens within a city, because she did not cry for help.
- Deuteronomy 22:25-27, the verse you present, calls for the rapist to be put to death for violating a married woman out in the country where no one could hear her scream for help.
- Deuteronomy 22:28-29 calls for the rapist and his victim to be married, if they are discovered, and for the rapist to pay her father 50 shekels of silver, and they are to never be divorced.

So it appears that the consequence depends on the location of the rape and whether or not the women is married.

I've never heard anyone say the Bible "encourages" rape., but I have heard that the Bible has injustice towards rape.
