I accept this challenge. I will be debating this round like a regular Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Thank you for accepting.

Genesis contains two mutually exclusive creation stories. The first one being genesis 1 and the second being Genesis 2:4-7. Genesis 1 says "Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so." and genesis 2:4-7 says "Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground".

God is claimed to be a god of love [1] and yet how can a god of love order the killing of tens of thousands at a time seemingly without remorse [2] [3] [4].

God rests [5] god doesn't rest[6].

God is a god of peace [7] god is a god of war [8].

Two separate (and again mutually exclusive) accounts are given of Jesus's bloodline [9] and [10].

God commands human sacrifice [11] god forbids human sacrifice [12].

I think that is probably enough to debate on.

I look forward to your responses.

[1] 1 John 4:7-8
[2] Joshua 6:20-21
[3] 1 Samuel 15:3
[4] Deuteronomy 3:4-6
[5] Exodus 31:17
[6] Isaiah 40:28
[7] Romans 15:33
[8] Exodus 15:3
[9] Luke 3:23-38
[10] Matthew 1:1"17
[11] Judges 11:30-32
[12] Deuteronomy 12:31

Taking into consideration the quantity of inconsistencies that you have given, 2 days was not enough time to research and explain each one. I apologize, but I am going to have to forfeit this debate.

It's either going to be a debate over the original text or the translations. And I guarantee the text has been corrupted to some extent. I'm not using this as an excuse, though.

You better be ready to defend this pretty well. Some Christian fundamentalists can actually rebut a lot of the known contradictions pretty well. Concentrate more on the bigger, over-arching ones than the tiny ones relating to text, because those are often taken out of context.

I would argue from the commonly accepted translated bible though I am perfectly willing to debate someone who wants to make a case for the older christian texts (e.g. apocalypse of peter). If you want to debate from the original hebrew texts then I would have to use the translations for reference (for obvious reasons). There is very little room for maneuver with the older jewish texts that make up the old testament though.

Do you mean the translations or the original texts?
