Rules

1. Maintain proper conduct and etiquette at all times.

2. Follow the established debate structure.

3. While I do not not require my opponent to cite sources, it is preferred.

Notes

1. I accept Wikipedia as a source. However, the article that is referenced must have a complete bibliography.

2. To clarify: I will be arguing against the death penalty and my opponent for it.

3. Burden of proof is on Pro.

4. Because many different sets of ethical standards exist, for this debate, the definition of 'morally justifiable' is told from a utilitarian perspective.

Definitions

Death penalty - the punishment of execution, administered to someone who has been convicted of a crime

Morally justifiable - according to utilitarian ethics, a morally justifiable act is one that maximizes overall welfare

I look forward to a challenging debate. Good luck to my opponent.

You have some serious flaws with your Resolution, though the main one is:

- Death Penalty against what crime exactly? High Treason? Murder? Genocide? Stealing? Trespassing? It could be anything.

If the resolution is a question, bop is normally shared.

What is the basis for the morality that is required for 'moral' arguments in this debate?

You can't really make up your own voting system when there is a different criteria for points in-built into the DDO system..
