The Earth is older than the Bible says. (8,000-10,00) years.

The Earth is globally accepted by large science institutions to be around 4.54 billion years old.

Well actually the Bible says that since the time of the seven days of creation has been 8,000 to 10,000 years old, but the planet earth itself was here before it. The bible describes earth as "...formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." So there was an earth before God said "let there be light".

"So there was an earth before God said "let there be light".

The Sun is the center of the universe, and was there first. So even then the chronological order of creation in the bible is wrong.

"the time of the seven days of creation has been 8,000 to 10,000 years old, but the planet earth itself was here before it. "

By stating this, you are agreeing that the age of the Earth concedes what the Bible assumes.

First off, I wouldn't recommend Wikipedia as a reliable source of information. Secondly the bible assumes the earth is older than the time of humanity, you would know this if you read the bible you would know that God told Adam to replenish the earth. Replenish means to refill, in other words there was something before the time of creation. Therefore implying that there was a time between "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" and the seven days of creation we know now. This is part of the gap theory, so even the bible doesn't give the planet a definite age.
As for the placement of the sun, the fact that it's in the center does not prove it was there first. (Here is where the faith comes in) Since God crafted everything to work perfectly, it would be logical to place the sun in the center so it benefits the Earth (which is perfectly placed and tilted for the flourishing of life by the way) and there is no way to really prove how old the sun is because no one was here long enough to record it. Scientist use a formula to estimate the age, yet we don't know for sure.

Con has already conceded the debate by agreeing with the resolution:

"...the planet Earth itself was here before [the assumed age of the Earth according to the Bible].

I have read the Bible actually. There is "indication" that the earth is between the age i submitted in the title of the topic. The Bible's time scale from beginning to end was closely analyzed and the accepted age through all chronological events, is said to be 8-10k years. In other words that's from the beginning to where we are now. That is including the age of the Earth, and man. Unless you have a metaphor to which the Earth is not created in 7 days, it wasn't literal. In that case I'm not interested.

Well if you are not a Christian then I can see why you would think so ignorantly. If you have ever read a bible you will see that there is no indication that the earth is more or less than 5,000 to 10,000 years old. That is how old MAN is, according to Jesus' ancestry, from Adam to Jesus is about 4000 years then add 2014.
