In the present world, the media is affecting the lives of people in both the good and the bad ways. Everyone today, wants to look PERFECT. The women want to look beautiful, gracious and attractive at the same time. The men want to look handsome and smart. The media is having an adverse effect on teenagers too. The girls want to have proper body shapes. They think that they should have zero figure to look beautiful. For this, they exercise, skip their meals and become over conscious about their body shapes. The teenage boys go to gym in order to have six packs and huge biceps like the actors. This is hazardous for their health. Their body becomes weak and they fall ill more often. Everyone is beautiful in a different manner but the media is spoiling the thinking of people - they only look beautiful if they are slim and thin which is wrong.
Today the obesity rate is extremely high and obesity is a far larger problem than over-exercise or over-dieting. Bad body image is a good thing if people are overweight because it encourages them to eat right and work out. Having these kinds of goals results in less obesity and the problems that result from it. Because of out media people are encouraged to be more attractive, and the world is a better place when people are more attracted to each other. Dieting and fitness also gives people something to do that improves themselves and that makes life more interesting. It gives people goals to accomplish.
I look forward to hearing a more detailed explanation of my opponent's arguments in the next round.
