Nothing is free. This is the montra of our modern society. Everything measured in dollar bills, monetary value. If you want a car, you pay. If you want, shelter, you can pay for it. If you're hungry or thirsty, theres a value put on that. Things that would otherwise be free have been given a value based on paper thats only really worth 0.10cents per dollar in gold. The pursuit of money has driven us to become a power hungry consumeristic culture. And yeah, there may be some good qualities in the system, but for the most part i think its detrimental to the human experience. Personally, i think that this system thats set up will inherently and inevitably fail. So this is a debate in two parts.....ONE: is the monetary system good or bad? TWO: What are viable alternatives to this system?

Yay! Ok jon, get it together.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." (US Declaration of Independence) The monetary system goes against the very first sentence of the US Declaration of independence. Why? Because Money and the pursuit of it makes everything unequal. Lets try to organize my thoughts: inequality, competition, greed, separation.
Money supports inequality. Due to certain unavoidable circumstances Person A is homeless while Person B lives a luxurious lifestyle. One day Person B walks right by Person A on the street on his way to a Gala. He thinks to himself, "im glad im not that guy. That guy must be lazy" On the surface this may seem irrelevant to the topic at hand. But if we look deeper into it we see something (and this happens every day, mind you). The something we see is Person B looks down on Person A based off of a monetary and situational status. Inequality.
Unnecessary competition. Person C and Person D are neighbors. Both of their lawns are green and for the sake of this argument they start off with the same car, same type of house etc etc. Person C buys a boat. Person D see this and thinks, "i cant have this". and so he buys an even bigger boat. You dont wanna look poorer than your neighbor, right? So person C buys a brand spankin new BMW......and this pattern goes on and on and on and eventually Both C and D are spending money they dont have to impress the other person. Would this have happened if we didnt place value on these things?
The Monetary system we have in place promotes greed and puts it on a pedestal. Im sure you're aware of the way our monetary system works. But for a refresher i will explain it to the best of my knowledge. The government (G) goes to The Federal Reserve (FR) and asks for 1 million Dollars in exchange for an IOU. FR gives G the money and G writes that 1 mill as 2 mill and gives that money to the Banks (B). B takes that 2 mill and writes it in the books as 4 mill and then they give that money to us at an interest rate of 6-10%. (this may be a little wrong but this is the way in understand it so feel free to correct me). In the end, every dollars only worth about 0.10cents. how does this promote greed? Well, why else would G and B turn 1 mill into 4 mill by "cooking the books"? again this goes back to competition, the more you have of it the more you want. Thus feeding a devastating consumeristic mindset that inherently promotes greed. WE feed our egos and we ignore our true, loving, all inclusive selves.
Separation. Im sure i dont really need to go into detail. You already know about the class system, the 1%, inequality between women and men. Its pretty self explanatory.
The monetary system, since its inception, has been set up to fail. Its bad for our planet and its bad for us. (im a very open person so im looking forward to your side! :) )

I. What is the Monetary system

A monetary system is a complex method of marketplace stimulation, which involves money circulating into the government as taxes, and back into the populous as stimuli, creating a cycle of economic growth determined by the people and legislation. The US government still has a small role in the corporate sphere, but monetary economics allow voters to have a litte bit of a say on how we push ahead sectors of our economy.

Every nation on earth has some form of monetary complexity. Mostly done through the central banks, morgatge and practical loans, also, government owned investment firms. These are ran by government appointed commitees, IE, by the people and for the people.

II. Opponents Interpretation of a Monetary System

It's intresting that the opposition doesn't understand what a monetary system is. I don't think he understands how the federal reserve works either. The money payed into the Federal Reserve is owned by the government, so of course the government isn't taking out IOU's. That's like forcing yourself to pay a tax for going over the budget.

These are actually known as liabillity pockets, at least until the banker takes out his deposit.

III. Definition Clash

My opponent does not know what monetary systems are ,which means this debate can not continue. He may come back next round with a full understanding, and I will happily debate him. Until then, all points should be forfeited to me, as Pro has not fullfilled his BOP (Mostly because he wasn't arguing the resolution I accepted).

We are the only animals on this earth that have to pay to live here. By being born on earth it is my inalienable right to reap what I sow without their being a false man made monetary system.
