The NHS does not allow certain procedures and drugs to be given to certain patients. Naturally, therefore, on the basis that every person should be allowed to choose what they feel to be right for themselves - they should go private and get the drug.

Unfortunately, at this point the NHS cuts off patients from free use of it's service on the basis that 'they have gone private'. Surely one drug or operation is not enough to quantify such a thing?

If someone chooses to go private, thats their decision, in some cases the NHS should take them back, but if the operation/drug is for something to do with vanity, they shouldn't... and this doesn't make any sense at all and i have nooo idea what the heck im talking about.... au revoir

'Vanity' is usually not usually the cause of the switchover. In that case, I would agree with you, but when the patient is being denied a drug for a more serious illness (ie cancer) on the basis that 'it's not proven to be effective', they should not be served by the NHS, but neither should they be denied later by the NHS.

Your argument is highly flawed on the basis that you are only talking about 'vanity' affairs, and not real issues.
