Con

BOP - entirely on Pro

Definitions :

Resurrection - revival from the dead

Christ - Jesus Christ, the first century Jew and the main figure of Christianity

Full resolution : Jesus Christ was revived from the dead

Rules :

-No Forfeits
-No trolls
-No ad hominem
-No semantics (tweaking definitions of the dictionary).

Rounds :

1 - Pro provides arguments
2- Con rebuttals / Pro can provide more arguments or rebuttals (up to choice)
3- Rebuttals
4- Rebuttals
5- Rebuttals

My opponent should most likely be a Christian or someone who can prove the validity of the claim that Jesus returned from the dead

What counts as proof :
==================

- Historical records (books, testimonials, declarations, letters, etc.)
- Inductive reasoning
- Deductive reasoning
- abductive reasoning

Martyrdom does not count as evidence since there have been martyrs for all religions including the aztec gods but they can not all be right.

Conditions : If the bible is used from the viewpoint of a historical narrative, Pro must prove beyond reasonable doubt that the bible is reliable and that the new testament is written by people who witnessed the events and it has not changed since.

I'm a progressive Christian. I do not think that historical-critical studies will help prove the resurrection.

And done.

I agree to change the bible's definition contingent that you demonstrate that it is reliable within the debate.

If you're willing to change the Bible to be a collection of legitimate sources when analyzed with the historical critical method, I will accept. In other words, every mention of a Bible verse has to be backed up with analyzed criterium.

There are no less than 10+ sources in the New Testament. The historical critical method can be used to analyze each source and pull information with the historical criterium. Historians who don't accept the Bible as inerrant or a revelation from God use it all the time.

If you actually seemed to understand the issues at hand here, I might as Devil's Advocate. Your rules assume a conclusion and don't seem to have a good grasp on secular historical-criticism.

Your conditions are historically invalid. The Bible is not one source but many sources.

Not possible, even today with modern technology, there is no way of reviving a dead person, especially after 3 days of death. The human body has already gone through rigor mortis, and brain activity has ceased and the body starts decaying, after 3 days the chemical breakdown of cells develops and maggots start appearing on the body. Nobody is returning to life from that, unless you believe in fairy tales!!
