If one decides to demolish a building, one must be certain that the building is abandoned by all human beings before proceeding.

If one is not certain that the building to be demolished is abandoned, then for all practical purposes, the building is inhabited by a human being.

Likewise:

Whether or not a new human being comes into existance at conception is a topic of heated debate in the fields of philosophy, science, and politics.

Since there is doubt, for all practical purposes, it must be assumed that conception marks the beginning of a new human being with the right to life.

The only reason people say the right to life begins at conception is that giving the right to life to sprem and eggs is problematic. every period would be murder, and male ejaculation would be genocide.

I predict that this debate will be another that makes me ashamed of the beliefs I hold.

Ok whatever, I don't care whether we argue the legal or moral right. Just make sure you clarify in the first round.

Morality for practical purposes seems like a bit of a contradiction.

Actually now that I think about it, moral. I don't want to have to argue the superiority of one conflicting law over another.

Either.
