No. The reason is because ware in 2013 now and many things have changed. So maturity of that individual is vital to our society. If you lower the age it will make the death rate of violent arguments and driving accidents in the U.S. which is not an option for our society.

If they lowered the age of drinking then maybe we wouldn't have so much illegal drinking, and maybe we wouldn't have so many accidents evolving teens. Then teens wouldn't be afraid to say hey I need someone to take me home. Right now they think oh I have no one to call because I will get in trouble. Also have you looked at Germany the drinking age is 16, and they are doing just fine. Also they wouldn't be afraid to stay home and drink because it would be legal for them to drink.

deywalker- Its not about lowering the age of a minor. Its about the drinking age. 18 you are not a minor anymore there is no statutory rape after 18. You know its funny that men aren't fully matured until they are 23. Females are fully mature at about age 18. So are you saying we should allow women to drink at 18, and we should make men wait until they are 23. There are many problems here.

And if we lower the age of a minor, we would eliminate many statutory rape cases, too. Change blood alcohol levels to reduce DUIs. Neither solves the problem, and that is the same with lowering the drinking age.

KHatch79- I agree with you it would set a chain reaction. Then if the age restriction changed then we should also have harsher consequences for everyone who drinks and drives. There is no doubt that if it did change many other things would change as well.

LadyLeader101- You compare the US's drinking age to Germany's drinking age.... are you also aware of the consequences of a drunk driving in that country? They're serious. Until the United States has serious consequences for driving under the influence, it doesn't make sense to lower the drinking age.
