I am giving you the open floor as a first speech. The last guy who challenged you on this quit the debate. I find this point of yours to be immature, so if you belive it. Defend it. I leave making the first debating points to you.

Since my main points were made in the last debate I'll just post what I started with in my last debate. Then I'll respond to your position later on.

The United States must withdraw from the UN. The United Nations is an organization that seeks to destroy the ultimate sovereignty of the United States. There are 2 main reasons why this is a bad thing.

First, the UN isn't a US friendly organization. Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annon, said that Cuba is a nation that the world could learn from. Is Cuba anything like what the United States should become? I don't think so. Also, the US has a Constitution that proclaims everyone to have unalienable rights ordained by God, but in the United Nations convent on civil and political rights, the UN claims that rights are given by governments. If that is true, then any government has the ability to take those rights away. If governments can take away rights, then soon there will be no rights at all. In fact, the UN Convent on Civil and Political Rights even says that every right is given only as allowed by law. That is the same phrase that followed each right in the Soviet Constitution. Just looking at the Soviet Union, it is clear that if rights are conditional upon the government then rights won't last very long.

Second, the UN usurps the people's ability to govern for themselves. When Congress, the President, or anyone else in the U.S. government makes a decision, normally they are responsible to the people who elected them. However, when a body of individual representatives from around the world begin to impose restrictions on individual nations, then the people of that nation have no say in what happens. While the UN hasn't been as powerful as other trans-national organizations, it certainly seeks to achieve that point. Look at the European Union, they have complete control over the member nations. In fact, recently, the EU imposed cow emission standards (because cows supposedly cause global warming) on all its member nations, including the UK, which because it is an island doesn't have to worry about cow emissions like other EU countries. Yet even in the face of complete contempt by the British people, they still have to follow such a standard, and can do nothing about it. This kind of usurpation of sovereignty would not be good for the people of the United States.

So clearly the US should no longer be a part of the United Nations. It is an organizations that takes away the ability of U.S. citizens to direct the path of the United States.

I'm ready to defend my position completely.

Wow, goes to show how much voting fraud is actually on this site. 4 votes for the Con and he didn't even post an argument?

It sounds like you misunderstand the function of the UN.

Think of it more as moderators of a world forum rather than a world government.

And while the UN isn't perfect, what good will it do to get rid of the norms and infrastructure in which regional and global issues are adressed? What good will it do to remove yourself from this?

Gato, when have we ever let the UN tell the us what to do? They told us not to go into Iraq, we did. They have corrupt, power-driven dicatators posing as leaders in the UN. Of course we should remove ourselves. I think a few countries would follow. The UN does nothing anyway.

If the US left the UN, it would lose the power to influence anything that goes on within it.

As a permanent SC member with the power of veto, it would be giving up a lot of power.

Despite my personal opinion of the immaturity of your point, I did not realize debates took more than several days and was out of town visiting family for christmas. I would be happy to debate you again on an actual debate, but at the moment my lack of acess to a computer appears have hampered my ability to actually debate, I will send you an invite to a similar debate after this one is officially over, but clearly you won this one by default due to my absence.

I agree
What you should know is that the united nations
is a movement to a one world power.
it calls for the total disarmment of the united states.
if we lose are right to have guns we lose are freedom, and the right to defend the constitution and the bill of rights.
