The United Nations is good in concept, but has absolutely no effect in the real world. The UN is a worthless organization that accomplishes nothing; and the United States should not fund any part of the UN budget

A Buddhist proverb says, "If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking." Clearly, the U.N.'s motive toward world peace is a good one, but it just has not been enacted to 100% success yet. However it does have reasonable solvency and its efficiency will only improve with time. Thus, I negate the resolution because it is in the world's best interests to keep the U.N. on its feet.

Contention 1: The value of life precedes all. Thus regardless of the money it spends, if the U.N. saves 1 life, it is not a futile organization because the value of life outweighs anything else. The U.N. cannot be considered futile because it saves lives.

Contention 2: It has reasonable solvency. Now I can concede, that militarily the U.N. is absolutely worthless, but diplomatically it is successful. Every nation part of the U.N. (nearly every sovereign nation) is required to follow a charter that enforces peacekeeping. Furthermore, the U.N. has people scattered all across the globe engaging in humanitarian efforts and saving lives. For example, currently the U.N. is working rigorously to eradicate the numerous human rights atrocities present in Africa.

I wont delve into further details because it is already evident i have won this debate unless you want to argue the value of human life....

i'll have lengthier rebuttals if necessary
