The United States death penalty is inefficient as it stands and should be done away with.

I will provide definitions for this debate as the PRO did not do so in his opening.

(1) Inefficient: Not efficient
(2) Efficient: Satisfactory and economical to use

--> For example, the death penalty deters crime whilst keeping costs reasonable

My opponent has the burden of proof, and therefore must prove the death penalty (DP) is both 1) inefficient as it stands and 2) should be abolished. Although the BOP is not on me, I will attempt to argue that the DP is, overall, beneficial to society. Unless my opponent proves (1) and (2), I will win the debate.

Good luck!
