Con

First round is acceptance only.

Pro cannot introduce any new arguments in the final round as Con has no chance to rebut them.

The gold standard is defined as "a monetary system in which a country's government allows its currency unit to be freely converted into fixed amounts of gold and vice versa. The exchange rate under the gold standard monetary system is determined by the economic difference for an ounce of gold between two currencies." (1)

The United States needs a monetary system based on the items we need for survival. The gold standard is justthe worship of a shiny metal, like it turns men into crows and fish, as both creatures will dive at the shiny object, believing it to be food. Seriously though, what good is gold to people? The gold standard is nonsense, the petro dollar is no better. Thanks for making me think.

Con

My opponent is suppose to be arguing for the gold standard, but his first round argued against it (which was suppose to be acceptance only). For this reason I'll just post a simple argument to get "most convincing arguments", unless Pro decides to debate for the goal standard in the next round.

C1-Not Enough Gold:
The United States has approximately $380B worth of gold (1), but there are about $1.2T in circulation. (2)

Conduct goes to CON as PRO called CON a "boner".

Grammer goes to CON as PRO's 3rd round was, "whatever, boner. extend all you like." Correctly, this would have been: Whatever, you boner. Extend all you like.

CON had the more convincing arguments as PRO actually negated his own resolution.

PRO had no sources.

Plus the Fed isn't printing money. The current inflation rate is 0% and QE ended in october

16k, The fed is effective at what? Printing fiat currency and destroying the value of every dollar I put in my savings account?

lol. Coercive? Not really. Monopoly? Sure. But does that make it bad? They are effective.

Because it has a coercive monopoly on the production of currency.

I think we should end the fed and let things play out as they do.
