I believe the world would be better without religion. When I am asked of my religion I prefer to say nothing, but if have to classify it, I would say Agnostic.

Agnostic, in my opinion - being skeptical but not truely knowing if there is or is not a god.

Some religions shoot for peace. Which I respect that. But, however, since there are so many different religions, it causes war, the opposite of peace which is what that religion was aiming for in the first place.

So I ask you - would the world be better off without religion? I believe so.

This debate is open to anyone of any religion. And I wish my opponent best of luck.

Round 1 - What you beive in if anything at all. I have already stated what I believe above.

Round 2 - Questioning and Contrasting opponent about Round 1, which is what they believe in.

Round 3 - Response to Round 2 and thoughts about the main topic.

Round 4 - Response to each of our opinions on the main topic.

*We are not here to criticize each other's religion. If you wish to do so, I will end this debate.

Con

I accept the challenge and the terms as laid out by my opponent.
I will debate that the world would not be a better place without religion.
As stated in his setup for the round, this round will be explaining what I believe. I am a Christian, protestant.
I look forward to debating this topic with my oppnent.

Con

It is a shame that my opponent forfeited the round because I would have liked to hear his arguments.
If religion didn't exist, people would fight over other things such as land, money, sex. Eliminating religion would not eliminate wars.
If you think religion causes all the problems in the world, look at notable atheists such as Stalin, and Mao, who killed millions of people in the name of Communism which is an atheistic belief system. Sure Christianity does not have a clean slate but making the claim that a world of atheists would be a better world is just a faulty claim to make.
Look at mother Teresa
A vast majority of charity organizations are religious and mostly Christian, Salvation Army, Goodwill, Wordlvision, and although it isn't anymore, YMCA started out that way. Also, the ivy league schools started out as Christian institutions. Those who give the most to Charity are generally Christian. They give the most not only to religious but also to secular causes. [1]
I would like to know my opponent's view on absolute truth and morality. Is morality determined by society?
I look forward to hearing my opponent's responses.

Since my opponent once again forfeited, I see no way I can argue anything since he has no rebuttal.

@marcopolo

Do you really think that eliminating religion will eliminate fighting and hate??

If Pro does not win here I am not sure whats going on because obviously life would be so much better without religion. Most of the reason of fighting and hate is because of ones religion. The only problem here is that there is religion. Theres nothing that will ever get around that and its something people will always have to live with.

As I study the mind of the humankind, I'm indeed do think religions is something that holds back the people by the definitions of what's "moral" or not. However the last thing that leaves a human is hope (sure, some religions oppress the people and even kills them or others), if a human never had hope we would not even survive a day in the world. Some people can't se the hope so they need guidance witch makes religions in need.
As the rules of Jin and Jang is: "wherever the sun's is casting, a shadow will appear at the other side"

I'm sorry if it doesn't make much sense to people. Please, go easy, it's only my first one.

I am not sure what Con is supposed to do here to satisfy the resolution being negated - show religion improves their life?
