Social Media can be 5% curse on the academic excellence but the academic ruining is not due to the fact of how much people use social media in the academy but the way its contributed to the school.

social media has its benefits but towards our academics, it is curse.
students get so attracted to social media that their grammatical competence becomes extensively compromised due to the fact that most often words are abbreviated to make chatting faster.
nationally, social media is a curse to our academic activities and course work because ;
1. it is an agent of distraction, creating addiction and procrastination
2.it reduces socialization skills in person
3.psychological disorientation through cyber bullying
4.it is a fertile ground for bad influences.

The advent of Social media has it's benefits, but towards our ability to excel in scholastic activities, it is a curse. A doom.

Social media is a silent killer of vocabulary. Most often words are abbreviated to enable users chat faster. Students get so used to this manner of expression that their grammatical competence becomes extensively ruined.
These abbreviated words unconsciously creeps into their essays and thus causing bad grades.
Social media nationally has affected students ability to think straight during classes since the form intimate relationship, get bullied. Cyberbullying is a national occurrence that has affects lots of students, therefore making them psychologically disorientated.
Looking forward to my opponents argument.
