What is better to live in city or country

I accept your challenge.

I grew up in the country, and have lived in the city, and the benefits of living in a rural area outweigh the benefits of urban life. Here are my opening arguments.

1. Cost of living is significantly lower.
Many things are more expensive in the city; housing, food, utilities, and such. These things are all cheaper in less densely populated areas.

2. The community is more tightly knit.
Living in an area where there are few people, you get to know most of the people in your town. The atmosphere is much more friendly and warm.

3. There is significantly less crime.
Small towns have lower crime rates. Crimes also tend to be less severe in a rural setting, while crimes like homicide and assault are more common in a crowded city.

4. It's less stressful.
In many ways, people who live away from the hustle and bustle of the city are happier. There's much less light and noise pollution, and traffic is basically nonexistent. People who are less distracted tend to focus better.

By "city", do you imply only big cities as the question is commonly asked? There is a range between metropolitan and country, which include small city, suburb, towns and large villages. It would help the debate to categorize the in-between range.
