The minimum wage increases the cost of employing people. By increasing costs, it effectively puts people out of work.
There is always a reason for a minimum wage. The government needs to maintain a minimum wage, for our own good. I have a short list for now on why. 1. Without a minimum wage, not many people could afford to work. 2. Companies would take advantage of a no minimum wage law. 3. Immigrants would work for lower wages. 4. Many would not be able to pay off their debts. |

If prices increase, then it has to be justified by the increased productivity of the worker. If the worker does not increase his productivity, he will be out of a job. Everythign else being equal, that person who is no longer justifiable on an economic basis, will lose his job.
Minimum wages destroy jobs.
Well, 1. Without a minimum wage, not many people could afford to work. Many minimum wage workers already cannot afford an apartment, car, car insurance, also with the increasing prices of gas. These people survive by roommates or having a spouse with a better job. No minimum wage would put these people at risk, they would need to do something else. For people who live in some suburbs and the rural areas, a car is required. Gas is required with that car. Gas is not being based off the supply and demand. We are not limited on how much gasoline we can put in our cars, so the supply is reaching the demand. The gas companies are just greedy. Lower wages would cause these citizens to become homeless, unless they made living conditions really cramped to help pay for the rent, yet maintain all the vital appliances. 3. Immigrants would work for lower wages. Yes, many do with the current minimum wage, but suppose they came in and applied, and expected a pay a lot lower than yours for the same work. That puts many hard working people at risk. Especially since many are happy with really low wages, depending on where they came from. |

Their pay is contingent on their productivity. If you raise or lower the minimum wage, those currently employed should not be affected because they are currently getting paid based upon their productivity. If you remove the minimum wage it will create jobs. If you increase the minimum wage you will destroy jobs.
Well to conclude, No minimum wage will send people to the street. Companies would happily lower their wages and keep the prices the same, or lower them, but not as dramatic as the wages. Like I said, many people need roommates that work minimum wage. The rent isn't going to go down because we took out the minimum wage. Gas prices won't go down either. |

I'll remember that next time.
However, the con side proved more valuable and logical reasons for not having the minimum wage removed.
Pro barely elaborated on any of his points, and con's arguments were stupid.
