The movie, "A Clockwork Orange" was properly rated when stamped with an "X" rating. The movie comtains full frontal nudity, which would automatically make it applicable for an "R" rating. But the fact that it makes rape, a very serious subject, look rather nonchalant, makes it deserving of a rated "X" rating. Even if it didn't male rape look nochalant, it still should most of it and it is disturbing.
A Rated X or NC-17 rating means according to the Motion Picture association of America this rating is applied to films the board believes most parents will consider inappropriate for children. It indicates only that adult content is more intense than in an R movie; it does not imply any sort of obscenity. As with films rated R, the minimum age to see a NC-17 movie is 18 in some states. I do believe that it has mature content such as two short rape scenes with no intercourse and nudity. A film with no blood and little to no cursing does not sound like a movie that should be rate3d x |

The movie didn't have much blood or guts, as many blockbusters with rated R rating have, nor did it have much cursing, even less than PG-13 films today. But what it does has is rape and the implication of rape, along with graphic nudity.
Lets start with the nudity. First off there is full frontal nudity of both genders. Everything is shown. It's not just once, but there is a lot of instances, which would make it already a rated R film. But the fact that it has rape in it, even if it doesn't show the full extent of it. It still shows the start of the rape, and leaves the rest to imagination. These scenes are disturbing and shows the harsh reality of rape. It shows what is hidden or just implied in most movies, and what is only talked about in real life. The movie also shows some disturbing scenes that don't include sexual acts, such as the brainwashing scene, the attempted suicide, and the gang violence. They alone do not merit a rated X or NC-17 ratings, but these scenes are mild compared to the rest of the film. And my opponent says that there is no nudity? Maybe he didn't mean to type that, but there certainly is nudity. AlexIsRIGHT forfeited this round. |
