As a woman I would argue that society does scrutinize women significantly more then men, limiting how women are allowed to express themselves on their own individual and personal level. There is undoubtedly more scope for men to express themselves however they want, without being ridiculed or labelled self destructive or impure.

However, men and women both have it tough in different ways and I think one of the major reasons for breakdowns in relationships and indeed a breakdown in society, is triggered by these dangerous social expectations that men and women feel they have to follow, in order to feel that they contribute successfully to the makings of their gender. In a nutshell, should we continue disregarding women? Should they not be granted equal pay rights as men? Should they be dominated in relationships? Do women really need to be buttered up? Can you objectify them and cherish them for their aesthetic and ornamental qualities alone and just obliterate the possibility altogether that they may have a brain?

Should men be pressured into earning the most money? If they don't have ego are they any less of a man? If they don't have the urge to fight, kill, or assert their authority, should they be granted authority? Is cooking and cleaning really emasculating? Is there a correlation between the size of a penis and the size of a heart?

Its time to evolve...

'As a woman I would argue that society does scrutinize women significantly more then men'

I disagree with this statement. In modern times, in the United States, the stereotype is that the women are smart, and the men are stupid idiots.

Here are some examples of the men being stereotyped as stupid and idiots, and the women being stereotyped as smart.

1. The Simpsons: Homer is fat, funny, stupid, and lazy. Marge is smart and hard working. Same thing with Bart and Lisa. Bart gets bad grades in school, while Lisa gets good grades in school. Bart is immature, while Lisa is mature.

2. Family Guy: Peter is the fat, funny, and stupid one ,while Louise is the smart one.

3. South Park: Randy is stupid, while Sharon is smart.

4. It is also a stereotype that men just sit on the couch all day on sunday, watching football, getting drunk, and eating junk.

5. Men commit more crimes than women.

6. Men are always causing problems, getting into fights, and getting drunk at sporting events. Women are known to be more civilized at sporting events.
