the slalom skateboard shuld become an olympic sport because some people tret the x-games like nothing and it doesnt really matter because other countries should should compete in the event. to get a gold medal in a pole volt is not really important. it shows you can fling yourself off a pole at extreme hieghts. but you can prove you have skills if you can dodge cones on a skateboard and have a low time.

Hello skater,
A skateboard. a wooden projectile with four wheels being pushed by the mammal species of Homo sapiens. Now what exactly is a "Homo sapien" you might ask? **The species of bipedal primates to which modern humans belong, characterized by a brain capacity averaging 1400 cc (85 cubic in.) and by dependence upon language and the creation and utilization of complex tools.**
-Dictionary's explanation- Lets go into depths into this subject. The word "homo sapien" is Latin for "the wise human" or "the clever human." Then if mankind is classified as Homo sapiens for depending upon a language and the creation of complex tools for survival thus making the human "the clever" or "the wise" under what catagory would a skateboarder or skater for that matter fall into? Although the skateboard can be defined as a "complex tool" it by any means is not needed for survival and can be quite the opposite for the advancement of the human race. Broken bones, severe injuries, destruction of public places and even death can come along with skating.... A menace sport of some sort. Hence i ask again would I refer to a skater as being the "wise" or the "clever"?

As you know my position by now on "skating" let me make my arguments on why Skating would never be an olympic sport. Well first of all you already made my argument for me when you said "skateboard should become an olympic sport because some people tret the x-games like nothing and it doesn't really matter because other countries should compete in the event." If people already treat a sport "like nothing" why or who in there right mind would want to make it an international olympic sport? If its already bringing on bad ratings on its own home court where everyone treats it like "nothing" you actually think its going to be respected on an international olympic scale?

As far as the pole volt goes, skating and pole volting aren't even on the same scale they could never be compared.
"it shows you can fling yourself off a pole at extreme heights."
So you would rather watch some one "dodge cones on a skateboard" then fling themselves off a pole at extreme heights"? Im pretty sure the guy thats flinging himself at extreme hieghts is having a "low time" a swell.

Point is Skating is where its at today due to the whole underground level that it has taken and the popularity it is among the younger crowds. Skating is not excepted in modern society thus making it a very popular for the teenage rebellious age. If you were a true skater you would never want Skating to be on the international olympic stage in the first place.

Contender-

Relating to your definiton of homo sapien you shouldn't classify whether things are "human" by if they are wise or clever. There are people who aren't very wise or clever, but they are still human. Then you maybe can realize the master of the skateboard is a very clever person. Also, in the olympics only masters of a sport enter. So using your theory and my own we can say now that skating would be a very good olympic sport because the partcipants in it would only be the most clever.

"it shows you can fling yourself off a pole at extreme hieghts." That is a pretty ignorant comment right there. There is a technique to every event in track&field that takes awhile to perfect. The Pro makes pole volting easy, when it isn't.
