Being Christmas time and only a week til I thought a Santa debate was well in order. If you aren't Christian you won't agree w/ this so go on who's debate is best not that you despise Christianity.

Now I just recently (this morning) Realized who Santa actually is. I was in homebase at school today and I got a Apiffiny. Santa is.....JESUS. There were many clues that got me to this conclusion.

first of all Santa only appears on December 25 Jesus's birthday.

Secondly. There is no physical proof Santa exsists. If Jesus was Santa he would be able to go to every good boy and girls house in a nightt, something a mortal being couldn't do.

3rdly Christianiy is very much in the whole "good" and "evil" thing. Santa is very strick about good kids getting nice toys and naughty getting coal. Similiar to if you were a good person you went to heaven and a bad one went to hell

4thly only christians celebrate it (religiously). Jesus would go to all his good christian worshipers and reward them for there divosion.

And fifthly. "Santa" named his holiday "Christ"mas

I believe all this is enough proof Santa is Jesus

While I myself am not a religious believer, I do deeply respect the religious convictions of Christians. Many of the intellectuals I greatly admire are Catholics or followers of other denominations of Christianity. So when you say that Santa Clause -- a clearly imaginary figure -- is in fact Jesus, you are insulting every thinking Christian on the face of Planet Earth.

Santa Clause, in his modern American form, is a relatively recent creation. In fact, the American Santa was essentially an invention of Coca-Cola to help sell sugary and (at the time) cocaine-laced soft drinks to children. See http://en.wikipedia.org...

Parents use Santa Clause to control the behavior of children. And yet, the parents know that Santa is not real. By making the comparison, you are saying that Church figures use Jesus Christ to control the behavior of believers, even as they (the Church figures) doubt his divinity. Though this has been the case in history (see Pope Leo X's infamous statement "It has served us well, this myth of Christ"), it certainly is not the case, by and large, and is downright insulting to the thinking faithful.

Santa doesn't "only appear on December 25" -- he either doesn't appear at all because he doesn't exist (the real Santa), or he appears all year long to hock products to consumers (Santa impersonators). And December 25 is not Jesus's birthday. Anyone with any kind of education knows that Jesus's true birth date is unknown, and that early Christians adopted December 25th to coincide with a Roman pagan holiday -- so that they, the Christians, could worship openly without risking punishment from the cruel Roman lords.

Maybe this was all a "joke" and I didn't get it. But even as a non-believer, I found it offensive. And if this were indeed a serious argument you were making, then it's as insulting as it is absurd.

This is stupid. Just as Peter, Paul and John the Baptist are good people who are now saints, Santa Claus is just St. Nicholas. Santa Claus is St. Nick. Go find the story, it's very clear that a very nice person named Nicholas somewhere in Europe (Germany?) gave gold into somebody's shoes during the wintertime. He was certainly saint-like and continues to project the "gift of giving" in his alter ego Santa Clause. He's saint-like, god-like possibly but he's not Jesus. Jesus is Jesus and to think he's Santa is purely un-Christian and entirely ignorant of Christian teachings and thought.

First: That's retarded.

Second: EPIPHANY

Third: There's no good evidence to suggest that jesus was born on december 25th. I defy you to even find evidence for that in the Bible, although I hasten to add that i don't hold that as a credible source of historical evidence. December 25th was a pagan holiday, and it made sense for the early church to replace it with their own.

I have many christian friends, maam, and I can assure you the only intentions I had were to express the cruel aspects of christianity to which I percieve, and then express my opinion, challenging thier beliefs, and they either find a way to rebuttal it, re-inforcing thier original belief, or come up with a new belief.

No you insulted a group of people , a simple I disagree with the concept of Santa is sufficient,

I never ridiculed a person by saying that, I was expressing my opinion, which is the purpose of this site...If christians don't like my views, they argue with me.

Harlan , and any others who are poking fun at this , I think its rude and disrespectful . If you dont believe in Christmas and santa that is your choice , however the making fun of Christmas and Santa is sooooo tasteless. There are many Christians on here , who celebrate Christmas and who have children who celebrate and believe in Santa .. This is tasteless. I may not believe in your opinions and choices and holidays ... but I won't judge them and I expect the same in return from people. You may have distaste and not want your children to believe in santa , but thats your opinion .. Dont go judging and ridiculing someone else who does.

It was not an attack on you, don't owrry, I was merely ecpressing one of my distastes for christian methods of getting people -kids- to do as they tell them.
