This is my second attempt, but not my idea. My last opponent was PRO, but disappeared after one response to me.

I am CON to the argument. My opponent must prove that

the world is overpopulated, as in the estimated 7 billion humans now here

1.) are using resources at a faster rate than can be found or replenished

2.) 7 billion humans will necessarily produce too many waste products for the global ecosystem to absorb.

1st round is for acceptance and clarification. 72 hours per argument, 8k characters.
I look forward to vetting our positions on this important and controversial subject.

The Earth was made to hold less than 1 billion people. We have 7 billion! Also, the population continues to increase
Debate Round No. 1

I'm still getting the hang of this. Being Con, I should have allowed Pro to put her first argument in round 1.
Pro, thank you for accepting. Please elaborate your argument and cite evidence as to why the Earth was made to hold less than 1 billion people.

Debate Round No. 2

I hope to actually finish a debate on this subject with someone someday. This is attempt 2.

My opponent has cited no evidence, but has stated that the world was made to hold less than 1 billion humans. This is not a figure I have been able to find backed up by any research group. If Pro would like to cite a study or make an argument for this, I would analyze it, but since Pro has forfeited, I will cite evidence that the Earth is NOT overpopulated.

One indication we would have of overpopulation is that we are running out of usable farmland. We are not. Globally, we are using less land to produce more food.

Also, there is no shortage of food. The number of undernourished people has stayed around 700-900 million since the 1960's, despite a doubling of world population.

Debate Round No. 3

All arguments extend. No evidence has been brought forth by my opponent.
