I believe there are no right or wrong answers in ethics. Ethics are moral principles that govern a person's or groups behavior. In shorter terms, ethics is what someone believes in. When you are young, your parents or guardians tell you what is right and wrong. If your parents tell you that stealing is bad for example, then thats what you grow up to believe. There is no right or wrong answers in ethics because everyone has different views and people believe in different things. For example, religion, each religion believes in different things. It doesn't mean that one religion is wrong for believing in something, it means they were taught to believe in what they believe in. Everyone has different views on life and it doesn't mean that they are wrong it simply means that they look at things differently. Personal ethics deal with a lot in our lives, also there are ethics in peoples relationships. For example, someone may believe that holding the door open for a girl is what your supposed to do. Another person may believe that is not what your supposed to do. Both point of views are not right or wrong, they both just simply think differently. Personal ethics defines and describes in a person what they will and will not do to live by them. Another part of ethics are business ethics. What defines a good business and a bad business is the ethics they choose to run their business. Each business runs their business differently than others, because one business may believe that this is how your supposed to run your business and another business can think differently. Both are not right or wrong they both just believe differently in how to run a business. There are ethics in every aspect of life. If someone believes that stealing is not bad, that is not right or wrongs its just what they believe in, the might of been brought up to believe that. I believe ethics are opinion based thats why there are no right or wrong answers. Someones opinion can't be right or wrong because thats their own opinion, its what they believe. Every single person in the world has their own opinion on things and someones opinion can't be right or wrong. Someone may say how isn't stealing a bad thing? Stealing may be bad yes, but is it wrong if that person believes in it? One can argue that but it is not right or wrong to stand for what you believe in. Thats why there are no right or wrong answers because what someones believes in is not right or wrong its just simply their own opinion. People may argue that there are right or wrong answers in ethics thats what they believe. If ethics is what someone believes in, is it wrong for a person to believe in something? If someone stands for something they believe in are they considered wrong? No, simply because thats just what they believe in. Thats why there are no right or wrong answers in ethics because ethics are what someone believes in. There is no right or wrong answer for what someone believes in. It means that is what they stand for and that is their opinion.

Hey Marc thank you for challenging me on "if there are right or wrong answers in ethics" I really liked your argument and what you said how everyone has there own belief and people have different thoughts. For example, how you run your own business. That's very true, and everyone has there own preferences of what they want to do and how they want to approach it. But I think you are wrong, there is an right and wrong answer to ethics. Even though sometimes our descions is a personal again, it wont help our society as a whole get better. Even though the owener of a store wants to do something his way, it might be illegal and hurt the economy overall and that would be breaking the law and would be completely wrong. Also you were saying everyone has a right to belief what they want to believe in and sometimes these can conflict with other people based on religion, sex and politics. So these three things can interfere with a persons point of view and cause problems with our society. How do you think of this?

Matt, you said sex, religion and politics cause problems in society, how is this? You also stated that the owner of a store wants to do something his way but it might be illegal. That comes back to what i said about stealing. Stealing may be wrong yes, but is it wrong if someone believes in it because thats what they were brought up to believe? If the owner of a store runs his business this way it may be wrong but it doesn't mean he is wrong because that is what he may believe in. He also may believe that is the right way to run a good business. Each religion has their own beliefs and it doesn't mean whether they are right or wrong. They were just brought up to believe what their religion believes in. Sex has to do with personal ethics, its what you believe in. Politics is also what you believe in, someone may argue Obama is a good president and someone may say he isn't. Both people aren't right or wrong that is just what they believe. I don't think sex, politics and religion cause conflict because they are personal and opinion based. If someone believes in something and you don't agree do you consider them wrong?

Mark, well sex, religion and politics are very debatable topics that can cause conflicts in our society because they are extremely sensitive topics that die together with each other in a individuals belief. If people have different views on these topics then it can cause violence and certain types of people to hate each other. Everyone has different preferences and no preference is the right one. Sometimes people try to convince other otherwise and that's when the problems come to play. That's why its ethical to have your own personal belief but at the same time follow the rules that society gives us, which is freedom of speech, but cant say things that will offend others. Business decisions are ethical because it can hurt the economy as a whole. Lastly, I do not think if people don't agree on a topic that there are wrong, its just that they have to respects others people's thought on that subject and everyone can belief what they want as long as they don't try to interfere with others customs

Matt, i agree with you completely with what your statement everyone has different preferences and no preference is the right one. This means that everyone has different views and everyones opinion is not right or wrong its just what they believe. You said follow the rules that society gives us, I see where your coming from but I do not quite agree. If someone believes in something, I believe they should follow what they believe in. Thats like saying if i believe stealing is bad and society tells us stealing is good we should go steal. We should follow what we believe in and what we think it right or wrong. Business is ethical because it can hurt the economy, yes that may be true, but what I am trying to get at is its not right or wrong for a business owner to believe how to run a good business. When someone believes in something, people shouldn't go and say that they are wrong for believing in something that way, they should respect their belief.

ok mark you are pointing out great things that I have said that are very controversial. But that's the great thing about America, we have a system where anything can be vetoed and we set rules that go through many branches of the government and we all have to agree as a nation if we can all live and be satisfied with the rules that are upon us. Given that, we live in a country where we can practice the traditions and customs that mean the most to us, but most importantly practice that in a respectful matter. Which means in our own homes and not in the street and being careful of what you do before offending others. How does that sounds to you Mark, fair or not fair

I believe that sounds fair. It sounds fair because practicing in your own home treats other with respect because you are not interrupting them or interfering what they do. Also, because you are thinking before you say to offend others, and practicing in your own home also is respectful to society. But, if someone believes in not practicing at home that doesn't mean they are right or wrong thats just what they believe in. As ridiculous as this sounds, one can practice on the beach, people would argue that is wrong, but it is not because that it what that person might believe in. I said it is fair practicing in your own home but that doesn't mean practicing in your own home is right. Someone else may believe practicing outside on the street is right, but both are not right or wrong it just simply means they believe differently. When i said it sounds fair, that doesn't mean its right it just means thats what i believe. Another person could have said it did not sound fair. We both are not right or wrong we both just believe differently and have different opinions on the topic. If someone said this is fair and you agreed would you consider them right?

Ok I really like what you just said, about fairness and that's basically one's perspective of what is fair and not fair. How you mentioned before about bringing your beliefs outside the home or in the home? well this is what I think is ethical and not ethical. As long as your not hurting someone, either its verbally or physically and your not disrespecting anyone's culture by saying negative things about it then I guess that is most important. People have rights in this country to do what they please and that's understandable. But when they are violating others people's right by hurting them physically or mentally or insulting there customs then it is unethical. That is what I have to say about this and I strongly believe that what I just said were very sold answers.
