There is nothing I can do to get the respect of the members of this website. I have done far to much wrong to correct my errors. I wish there was some way that you guys would like me. Just a few nights ago, I had so much fun in the sxe debaters thread. That was probably what got me banned, but I totally found/made the sxeist debater. I really like this website, and would hate it if I had to leave. If no one here likes me, I'll do what they want me to and leave.

Definitions:

1) Respect -- Esteem for one's sense of worth

Arguments:

The resolution is vague. As such, it is open to interpretation and analysis. First off we can observe that Pro cannot prove that no members on this site (debate.org) respect him already. Second, the resolution does not indicate whether all, some, or just a couple of members need to respect my opponent in order for the resolution to be affirmed. In that case, we can assume that by members of this website, only 2+ users need to respect my opponent in order for this topic to be negated.

That said, let us consider the qualities or attributes one usually possesses in order to be respected. Typically a respectable person is considered as such by their traits or more importantly their deeds. While it is true that my opponent's actions have been questionable in the past, that is not to say that he cannot rectify previous behavior by acting more maturely or duteous in the future.

Let us also consider the fact that attributes or deeds necessary in order to gain respect need not be limited to this website (DDO). For instance, if my opponent were to achieve something glorious, I can argue that at least two members of this website would consequently respect him. Pro may go on to make a life-altering scientific discovery, donate millions of dollars to charity, adopt a needy child or save someone's life. Accomplishing any of these things would therefore generate respect for my opponent, even for just a little while.

Keeping in mind that these things may be unlikely, I submit that my opponent may even be able to constitute respect from several DDO members simply by making small changes in just his attitude towards this website in general. For example, Pro might make a donation to Debate Fans; stop creating fake accounts; cease to vote bomb others; demonstrate a more mature outlook on DDO related games, forum topics and member dispute/discussion; etc. One does not need to do something magnificent in order to achieve respect; many times progression alone is enough to warrant gratitude or esteem for a person's personal change and advancement.

As he is the one making a claim, Pro has the burden in this debate of proving that his past actions (committed towards members of DDO) are so ridiculously awful that there is NOTHING he can do to make people's attitudes about him change. I await my opponent's response before further analysis.

I made this debate to see if there is anything that I can do to do gain the respect of this site. I guess I worded the resolution wrong.

When you accepted this, I thought that there was no way that any person on the planet could be this kind and forgiving. I guess I was wrong...

Extend my arguments.

Ps. It's not about being nice; it's about mutual respect.

You are 15, what's to like. Teenagers are vile, rude and think they know everything. I know I used to be one, and now have one living in my house. Hurry up and move out of your house while you still know everything. It also might help if you had a few debates with some substence.

This is a little obvious but couldn't you create an entirely new account (discarding all the others), tell no one of your history, behave properly, and start fresh?

I really don't see how pro can affirm the resolution, considering how one earns respect with another individual isn't held to an objective standard.

Further, can't someone just accept, and say "I respect you," and then be done with it..?
