The oil in the middle east has caused them to be engaged in many wars over the scarce resource e.g Iran and Iraq
Robert_Weiler

Con

I accept your challenge. I contend that most strife in the Middle East is caused by issues other than oil. Ancient and modern rivalries revolving around tribe and religion are the main driving force of Middle East conflicts.

I will give my opponent the beginning of the next round to make a case, otherwise I will proceed with my argument.

It takes limited preparation for a debate in which your opponent declines to participate. For this round I will simply state the rather large flaw in my opponents opening argument. Namely, the fact that the Iran-Iraq war was over territory seized by the Iranians. It was a border dispute, nothing more.[1]

Well, this is quite boring. I will allow my opponent to make arguments, if he has any, in the final round, and I will refute them, otherwise he has just wasted everybody's time.

Reasons for voting decision: Conduct: Pro forfeited S&G: Pro incorrectly used "e.g." The term e.g. is Latin for "for example". Pro should have used i.e., which is Latin for "that is". Arguments: Pro did not meet his burden of proof. Sources: Con used the only source.
