No More than 100 words per round.

Use your own thoughts and ideas as much as possible. Do not rely on third party referencing.

No formal structure to this debate.

Time just is.

Humans have acquired the ability to measure and calibrate the duration of events. We regard this as the passage of time.

But in reality time does not have passage.

Nor does time necessitate the need to be observed or given structure or value.

Time will always be.

Because time just is.

Time is an intangible reality.

Con

Time has been proved real.
It is a constant flow.
If time isn't real why do we have clocks?
If time isn't real, why aren't there any dinosaurs?
Don't waste our time please.

Con proffers 5 statements/questions. Lets regard them A B C D E.

A. Of course time is real. I have stated this from the outset.

B. Time can be regarded as constant. But time does not need to flow. Events flow.

C. Humans created clocks. To facilitate their need to measure the duration of events.

D. Dinosaurs? Please explain.

E. It is impossible to waste time. Time wasting is a human social concept.

There is nothing in Con's argument so far, that discredits my opening proposition.

Time does not require human justification. Time just is.

What would time and space be if we had made no concept and there were no relatives ?

Are you suggesting that there would be no time or space if human beings did not think about them?

Surely If all organic life was eradicated from the universe. There would still be an abundance of inorganic particles zooming around the universe, plenty of opportunity for events to occur.

Also, we have only just met and you already seem very keen to introduce me to your relatives. LOL

Space and time are a human derived concepts. They only exist inside the human brain. Except if you have a relative.

Space like time, just is.

They are both simply intangible realities.

Time space continuum's etc. Are human derived concepts. They only exist inside the human brain.

Time and space do not require human consciousness to give them credibility.

Hey there sonofcharl. I see you moved on to another debate without me. I would like to add that time is relative to space. They are both interwoven into a single continuum. Hence, the time-space continuum. In which both space and time affect each other when changed. Without time, space would have no way of changing. No "time" to do it, so to speak. Without space, time has nothing relative to it to affect. Time would not exist without space. Time does not simply exist.

Another word for time is movement relative to the speed of light... its not constant otherwise we wouldn't be able to manipulate an eight hour sleep into the blink of an eye or notice time flew by while having fun. Come to think of it, we are kind of like walking, talking time machines lmao

time is tangible.
we do not merely perceive it.

Every moment is perceived by our senses.

time is measured in moments.

tie is the progression of change. change is perceived with the senses. contrasts are recognized.

time can be measured (machines and organically). Time can be predicted (counting / machines / conscious+unconcious expectations ). Time can be lost (forgotten / paranoia) . Time can be changed (stop watch). Time can be seen [as the progression of change, moment to moment].

Time is not a fascinating topic. It has been well revised and contemplated by Philosophers throughout the ages, who sought to demonstrate that this claim (that, "it is an exceptionally simple idea").

drugs are bad kid.

Time just is. It does not need to exist.

Nor can it change or have the need for change.
